  1. A & P DE VILLAINE 2016 MERCUREY LES MONTOTS

    Item #: i_345448
    Bottle Size: 750ML
    BIODYNAMIC

Mercurey Les Montots is a powerful wine with aromas of dark fruit followed by subtle animal and spicy notes. The palate is rich and elegant. The wine’s distinct acidity lends it a very drinkable quality and evokes fruits of the forest. This wine can be enjoyed after between two and eight years.

Les Montots is situated on fairly steep slope with southern exposure, planted with a selection of Pinot Noir vines from Nuits-Saint-Georges chosen for teir aromatic qualities and moderate yield. Les Montots is a Mercurey of its own kind, structured and viforous, deep with a dark ruby color.

  2. ANDRE BONHOMME 2016 VIRE CLESSE CUVEE SPECIALE

    Item #: i_351451
    Bottle Size: 750ml
STEHPEN TANZER 91 - 93 POINTS "(tasted from tank and filtered the day before my visit; from vines between 45 and 75 years of age; done in a blend of stainless steel and 400-liter barrels, none new): Light-medium yellow. Very precise nose dominated by iodiney minerality. Very concentrated, fine-grained and firm, conveying a youthful austerity to its savory peach and mineral flavors. Really spreads out to saturate the palate and pique the salivary glands. In the classic closed style of the domain; very long and in need of aging. This wine, which was scheduled to be bottled in November, comes from the top and middle of the hillside, and Palthey uses a blend of containers to get more complexity. The yield in 2016 was between 40 and 45 hectoliters per hectare. I'd give this at least two or three years in bottle before pulling the cork; it should last for another decade after that."

  3. ANNE BOISSON 2016 MEURSAULT SOUS LA VELLE

    Item #: i_351473
    Bottle Size: 750ml
Domaine Boisson, located in Meursault, was not very well known until recently. It was a kind of hidden gem. The domaine is part of the family Domaine Boisson-Vadot which is divided into three entities: the parents have Boisson-Vadot, the son Pierre Boisson and the daughter Anne Boisson. The élevage for the wines is long (between 15 and 20 months) and the quality of the wine is regular, with great finesse and infinite finish. The Meursault Sous la Velle has an open bouquet with aromas of citrus and white-fleshed fruit (apple and pear) and acacia notes. It has a fresh, nicely fruity palate with a distinctive mineral quality.

  4. BALLOT MILLOT 14 MEURSAULT 1ER CRU GENEVRIERES

    Item #: i_349988
    Bottle Size: 750ml
    Wine Advocate: 91
STEPHEN TANZER, VINOUS 92 POINTS - "Pale bright yellow. Subtle scents of orange zest, flowers and high-pitched brown spices. Tangy and alive; less broad but more focused and intense than the Charmes. A lovely energetic Meursault with good saline minerality and extract. Finishes with a subtle, slowly building whiplash of a finish. This very fresh style of Genevrières is tighter and less sweet than the Charmes."

ROBERT PARKER'S WINE ADVOCATE 91 POINTS - "The 2014 Meursault 1er Cru Les Genevrières has a very attractive bouquet with hazelnut and smoke tincturing the citrus fruit, a puff of chalk dust in the background. The palate is well balanced with tropical notes on the entry, counterbalanced with sour lemon and sea salt, seguing towards a slightly austere but intriguing finish. Give this a couple of years in bottle and you should have a respectable Meursault Genevrières at your bidding."

  5. BENOIT ENTE 2016 PULIGNY MONTRACHET NEXE FLORE

    Item #: i_351711
    Bottle Size: 750ml
Benoit Ente is the younger brother to Arnaud Ente, one of the greatest chardonnay producers in the world, but if he continues on his current trajectory he won’t be known as the “other” Ente for long. While Benoit has been making wine since the late 80s, it wasn’t until 1997 that he was able to acquire his own vineyards. He inherited less than 4 hectares almost exclusively in Puligny-Montrachet, as well as small plots in Chassagne-Montrachet and Meursault. At the outset, Benoit began making wines that focused on richness, power, and weight by using a higher percentage of new oak and frequent battonage to give density. Like many passionate, young vingnerons, he wanted to make a statement. With maturity however comes a greater perspective and following the 2004 harvest, Benoit has steadily evolved to the point where today, he is making wines of incredible purity and balance. Benoit’s wines are precise and focused with a tension to them that is not unlike a coiled spring waiting to unfurl. On the palate, his wines do just that and the tightly knit structure detected on the nose is revealed in layers of complexity.

  6. BERNARD BOISSON 2016 BOURGOGNE BLANC

    Item #: i_350693
    Bottle Size: 750ml
Domaine Boisson-Vadot is one of the fine, outstanding small producers in the village of Meursault that are not particularly well known beyond their native France, but which produce stellar examples of Meursault. The Boisson family have been vignerons in Meursault for more than two centuries, and the wines today are as fine as they have ever been in the long and illustrious family history. The wines of Boisson-Vadot, Pierre Boisson and Anne Boisson are all produced collaboratively at the family's cellars in Meursault. The hierarchy starts with the domaine’s excellent Bourgogne Blanc, from vines in the village of Meursault, which could easily be mistaken for a Meursault with its broad texture and hints of lime, nuts and honey.

  7. BERNARD MOREAU 2015 CHASSAGNE MONTRACHET 1ER CRU VERGERS

    Item #: i_350690
    Bottle Size: 750ml
    Wine Advocate: 91-93
    Burghound: 90-92
ROBERT PARKER 91-93 POINTS: "The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Vergers, which is a cuvée that tends to ferment and age slowly, was initially subdued. However, after just a couple of minutes, the aromas awaken and offer enticing scents of lemon curd, granite, a hint of vanilla pod and almond, all well defined. The palate is very fresh with a fine line of acidity. This is one of the most harmonious samples I tasted from Alex Moreau, not a hair out of place, with a beautifully poised, almost crystalline finish. Given the growing season, this should be considered a great success."

  8. BERNARD MOREAU 2015 CHASSAGNE MONTRACHET MALTROIE

    Item #: i_350691
    Bottle Size: 750ml
    Wine Advocate: 90
STEPHEN TANZER 90-92 POINTS - "Slightly high-toned aromas of ripe peach, mirabelle, honey and resin. A sweet, honeyed fruit bomb in the mouth, with its impression of sucrosité (actually less than 1.5 grams per liter, according to Moreau) leavened by ripe acidity. Boasts excellent definition and lift for its ripe fruit and finishes with a spicy nuance."

WINE ADVOCATE 90 POINTS - "The 2014 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie felt a little taciturn on the nose, surprisingly, not quite as energetic as the village cru. The palate is fresh and taut on the entry with a hint of apricot and quince, just a dash of ginger on the back palate, leading to an elegant, saline finish. This is a very commendable Maltroie, although it is not the stronger Premier Cru that Alex Moreau fashioned in this vintage."

  9. BILLAUD SIMON 2016 CHABLIS

    Item #: i_351322
    Bottle Size: 750ml
Beautiful yellow color with pale green reflections. The nose is alluring with a distinctive Chablis style of vine peaches, banana, citrus and a touch of brioche. The palate is well-balanced between richness, freshness and elegance. The rich and supple texture lingers on the end palate. Intense ripe fruits blend with vanilla, mineral and vegetal notes and complement the wine’s soft structure.

  10. BLAIN GAGNARD 2015 CHASSAGNE MONTRACHET 1ER CRU LA BOUDRIOT

    Item #: i_345021
    Bottle Size: 750ML
Chassagne-Montrachet La Boudriotte 1er Cru is located on the grounds of the Morgeot Abbey and is technically a subsection of Morgeot. Boudriotte itself is made up of six individual lieux-dits, all of which may also be bottled as Morgeot 1er Cru. The vineyard lies on a gentle slope of gravel, clay, and limestone, from vines planted between 1932 and 1969.

Domaine Blain-Gagnard was formed in 1980 when Jean-Marc Blain (a Sancerrois) married Claudine Gagnard, youngest daughter of Jacques and Marie-Josephe Gagnard of Domaine Gagnard-Delagrange. The couple runs this venerable domaine with the help of their son Marc-Antonin. Jean-Marc Blain and Claudine Gagnard met while they were both studying oenology at Dijon. The estate’s vineyards come mainly from grandparents and other relatives of Claudine, along with a few purchases. The vines are planted in Chardonnay (55%) and the rest in pinot noir, with a small parcel of Passetoutgrain. They now control 20.5 acres of vines in Chassagne-Montrachet, including holdings in three grands crus: Le Montrachet, Batard-Montrachet, and Criots-Batard-Montrachet.

Food pairing White Burgundy, with its rich texture and toasted flavors, pairs well with white fish and shellfish, and its naturally high acidity can counterbalance cream-based sauces. Oak-aging lends itself well to grilled fish, starches, butter, and toasted nuts.

Like Morgeot, La Boudriotte can have weight, depth, and richness, but is typically a bit more finessed. Aromas and flavors of yellow apples, lemons, and minerals are accompanied by notes of vanilla and toast thanks to aging in 30% new Burgundian piece.

  11. BOUCHARD PER & FILS 2014 CORTON CHARLEMANGE GRAND CRU

    Item #: i_345912
    Bottle Size: 750ML
    Wine Spectator: 93
    Burghound: 94
    Vinous Media: 94
BURGHOUND 94 POINTS: " Mild notes of wood and reduction mask the underlying fruit though I can say that it appears to be ripe. Otherwise there is outstanding volume and concentration to the big-bodied and openly muscular flavors that exhibit evident power and punch on the hugely long finale. This is presently very compact and like the Perrières very clearly built to age. I should note that while this is certainly going to need time it is not especially austere and I suspect that it will begin to drink well after only 5-ish years or so if that's your preference."

VINOUS-TANZER 94 POINTS: "Highly complex, soil-driven aromas of lime blossom, menthol, white pepper, mint and musky flowers. Utterly seamless and suave but very youthfully unevolved, with fresh citrus and mineral flavors complicated by sexy brown spices. A wonderfully subtle, lemony, penetrating wine with great flavor intensity and near-perfect acid balance. Most impressive today on the very subtle, slowly mounting, ultimately palate-staining finish. Conveys an impression of nobility without huge weight or power. Bouchard has bottled a splendid set of grand crus in 2014."

  16. CHAVY CHOUET 2017 BOURGOGNE BLANC LES FEMELOTTES

    Item #: i_351540
    Bottle Size: 750ml
We recently tasted the 2017 releases from Domaine Chavy-Chouet and were thoroughly impressed. We called down additional staff members to try them at the wine bar and everyone was blown away by the entire line-up. This is exactly what we look for from fine Burgundy where Chardonnay achieves its greatest expression. We immediately grabbed as much wine as we could and are thrilled to offer you our best white Burgundy purchase in recent memory.

For those wanting to do a "deep dive" into what makes White Burgundy so special these wines from Chavy-Chouet are the perfect introduction. Romaric took over day to day operations of the estate in 2014 after growing up in the vineyards. He has great respect for the history and tradition of Burgundy yet has made improvements in the vineyard and the cellar which reveal themselves in every bottle.

The Bourgogne Blanc is a fantastic wine which will make believers out of anyone who tries it. You would be hard pressed to find a better white Burgundy for the price. Vinous Media's Burgundy critic, Neal Martin loved the Chavy Chouet wines and wrote, "There is a lot in this regional white and it represents great value." This wine is an absolute steal and one to purchase by the case with confidence.

Enjoy the wines from Chavy Chouet and discover how good Chardonnay can be.

VINOUS 90 POINTS - "The 2017 Bourgogne Blanc Les Femelottes comes from five parcels from 15 to 60 years old vines adjacent to the Puligny-Montrachet village crus. It has a lovely, almond and white chocolate scented bouquet that is very well defined. The palate is well balanced with a fine thread of acidity, a touch of bitter lemon and frangipane towards the composed, quite phenolic finish. There is a lot in this regional white and it represents great value."

The wines from Puligny Montrachet, Saint Aubin and Meursault are made in the same manner with the only difference being the vineyards themselves. They are textbook examples showcasing the terroir of three different appellations. Trying these wines side by side is a revelation.

Chavy Chouet's wines have a transparency which allows the terroir to express itself loud and clear and reflect the very essence of their appellations. By that we mean, Puligny tastes like Puligny should showcasing perfect balance with white flowers, orchard fruit and vibrant citrus flavors. The St Aubin Premier Cru reflects its location near the famed Montrachet Grand Cru vineyard. The limestone based soils transmit tension, precision and minerality characteristic of the appellation. The Meursault from the Premier Cru Charmes vineyard is mesmerizing with a richness and depth one would expect yet is accomplished without any heaviness at all.

Enjoy the wines from Chavy Chouet and discover how good Chardonnay can be.

VINOUS 92 POINTS - "The 2017 Saint-Aubin Les Murgers des Dents de Chien 1er Cru comes from a parcel that was actually forest until 1986. Romaric Chavy told me it is always the last vineyard to ripen. It has a fragrant bouquet with apricot blossom, fresh pear and light nectarine aromas, all very seductive. The palate is very well balanced, very pure with a fine bead of acidity. This feels very harmonious and utterly seductive. You could easily drink this now although it will sure age in bottle. Superb."
