  1. ANNE BOISSON 2016 MEURSAULT SOUS LA VELLE

    Item #: i_351473
    Bottle Size: 750ml
Domaine Boisson, located in Meursault, was not very well known until recently. It was a kind of hidden gem. The domaine is part of the family Domaine Boisson-Vadot which is divided into three entities: the parents have Boisson-Vadot, the son Pierre Boisson and the daughter Anne Boisson. The élevage for the wines is long (between 15 and 20 months) and the quality of the wine is regular, with great finesse and infinite finish. The Meursault Sous la Velle has an open bouquet with aromas of citrus and white-fleshed fruit (apple and pear) and acacia notes. It has a fresh, nicely fruity palate with a distinctive mineral quality.

  2. BENOIT ENTE 2017 ALIGOTE

    Item #: i_345490
    Bottle Size: 750ML
Benoit is the younger brother of Burgundy legend Arnaud Ente. Benoit began his career by growing fruit on half of his grandparent's domaine. After getting plenty of practice producing superior grapes for negociants, he parted ways with the relatives in 1997 to farm 9.55 acres of his own vineyards. His primary production is Chardonnay from the ACs of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet, but he also makes Bourgogne Blanc, Cremant, and Aligote. Benoit's hallmarks are purity, terroir, and low intervention, long elevage, and very little new oak. Benoit lets his fruit and soil do the winemaking.

  3. BERNARD BOISSON 2016 BOURGOGNE BLANC

    Item #: i_350693
    Bottle Size: 750ml
Domaine Boisson-Vadot is one of the fine, outstanding small producers in the village of Meursault that are not particularly well known beyond their native France, but which produce stellar examples of Meursault. The Boisson family have been vignerons in Meursault for more than two centuries, and the wines today are as fine as they have ever been in the long and illustrious family history. The wines of Boisson-Vadot, Pierre Boisson and Anne Boisson are all produced collaboratively at the family's cellars in Meursault. The hierarchy starts with the domaine’s excellent Bourgogne Blanc, from vines in the village of Meursault, which could easily be mistaken for a Meursault with its broad texture and hints of lime, nuts and honey.

  4. BERNARD MOREAU 2015 CHASSAGNE MONTRACHET MALTROIE

    Item #: i_350691
    Bottle Size: 750ml
    Wine Advocate: 90
STEPHEN TANZER 90-92 POINTS - "Slightly high-toned aromas of ripe peach, mirabelle, honey and resin. A sweet, honeyed fruit bomb in the mouth, with its impression of sucrosité (actually less than 1.5 grams per liter, according to Moreau) leavened by ripe acidity. Boasts excellent definition and lift for its ripe fruit and finishes with a spicy nuance."

WINE ADVOCATE 90 POINTS - "The 2014 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie felt a little taciturn on the nose, surprisingly, not quite as energetic as the village cru. The palate is fresh and taut on the entry with a hint of apricot and quince, just a dash of ginger on the back palate, leading to an elegant, saline finish. This is a very commendable Maltroie, although it is not the stronger Premier Cru that Alex Moreau fashioned in this vintage."

  5. BLAIN GAGNARD 2016 CHASSAGNE MONTRACHET 1ER CRU LA BOUDRIOT

    Item #: i_345021
    Bottle Size: 750ML
Chassagne-Montrachet La Boudriotte 1er Cru is located on the grounds of the Morgeot Abbey and is technically a subsection of Morgeot. Boudriotte itself is made up of six individual lieux-dits, all of which may also be bottled as Morgeot 1er Cru. The vineyard lies on a gentle slope of gravel, clay, and limestone, from vines planted between 1932 and 1969.

Domaine Blain-Gagnard was formed in 1980 when Jean-Marc Blain (a Sancerrois) married Claudine Gagnard, youngest daughter of Jacques and Marie-Josephe Gagnard of Domaine Gagnard-Delagrange. The couple runs this venerable domaine with the help of their son Marc-Antonin. Jean-Marc Blain and Claudine Gagnard met while they were both studying oenology at Dijon. The estate’s vineyards come mainly from grandparents and other relatives of Claudine, along with a few purchases. The vines are planted in Chardonnay (55%) and the rest in pinot noir, with a small parcel of Passetoutgrain. They now control 20.5 acres of vines in Chassagne-Montrachet, including holdings in three grands crus: Le Montrachet, Batard-Montrachet, and Criots-Batard-Montrachet.

Food pairing White Burgundy, with its rich texture and toasted flavors, pairs well with white fish and shellfish, and its naturally high acidity can counterbalance cream-based sauces. Oak-aging lends itself well to grilled fish, starches, butter, and toasted nuts.

Like Morgeot, La Boudriotte can have weight, depth, and richness, but is typically a bit more finessed. Aromas and flavors of yellow apples, lemons, and minerals are accompanied by notes of vanilla and toast thanks to aging in 30% new Burgundian piece.

  6. BOUCHARD 2017 BEAUNE 1ER CRU CLOS ST LANDRY

    Item #: i_352347
    Bottle Size: 750ml
WINE SPECTATOR 92 POINTS - "A floral aroma of acacia and linden blossom announces this delicate yet rich white. The white flower, lemon verbena and spice flavors are subtle, meshing seamlessly with the lush texture. Shows fine harmony overall, with a long finish. Drink now through 2024. 73 cases imported.

WINE ADVOCATE 91 POINTS - "The 2017 Beaune 1er Cru Clos Saint-Landry Blanc offers up an inviting bouquet of fresh pear, yellow orchard fruit, drawn butter and freshly cut herbs. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, ample and enveloping, with a fleshy core of succulent fruit and a generous, open-knit but nicely delineated profile."

  7. BOUCHARD PERE & FILS 2013 MEURSAULT LES PERRIERES 1ER CRU

    Item #: i_345109
    Bottle Size: 750ML
eROBERT PARKER 92-94 POINTS :"The 2013 Meursault 1er Cru les Perrières has an attractive austerity on the nose, well defined, and actually capturing the essence of Perrières better than some of the more famous producers. The palate is crisp and precise with a keen line of acidity, well-integrated oak and a touch of grilled walnut and salinity toward the long finish. Bravo! This is very well-executed Perrières."

BURGHOUND POINTS 92 "OUTSTANDING" :"A subtle application of wood easily allows the elegant, pure and airy aromas of floral, citrus and wet stone where a hint of Asian style tea lurks in the background. There is plenty of mineral character to the beautifully well-detailed, intense and delicious middle weight flavors that conclude in an impressively long and palate coating finish. This is not especially complex at present and I would suggest acquiring this only if you have the express intention of holding it for at least 5 years."

VINOUSMEDIA 91-93 POINTS :"Discreet nose hints at white flowers, rose petal and white pepper, with citrus peel in the deep background. Fine-grained and aromatic in the mouth, offering an intriguing blend of sweet and peppery elements and wet-stone minerality. Finishes classically dry and long, with soil-driven smoky, saline minerality." -- Stephen Tanzer

  8. BOUCHARD PERE & FILS 2016 BEAUNE DU CHATEAU BLANC

    Item #: i_345518
    Bottle Size: 750ML
BURGHOUND 90 POINTS - "In contrast to the Pouilly-Fuissé, the reduction is sufficiently prominent that I would advise decanting this first. Otherwise there is excellent concentration to the sappy and palate coating flavors that possess a lovely texture that extends to the solidly complex and sneaky long finish."

  10. BRUNO CLAIR 2015 MOREY ST DENIS EN LA RUE DE VERGY

    Item #: i_345483
    Bottle Size: 750ML
BURGHOUND 90 POINTS -"This too is super-fresh with its airy nose that combines floral, red currant and evident wet stone scents. The racy and tension-filled flavors possess a really lovely mouth feel if perhaps not quite the overall depth and length as the best of these villages wines."

VINOUS 90 POINTS - "(from vines planted in the 1980s on rocky soil): Good dark red. Quite reticent on the nose, and a bit diffuse. Then juicy and sweet in the mouth, with soil-driven red berry flavors complicated by red licorice and mineral notes. Good density and breadth here--and a bit more size than usual for this wine. Finishes with dusty, horizontal tannins. Clair noted that this bottling is taking on more power as the vines age."

  11. CHABLIS 15 LOUIS MICHEL MONTEE DE TONNERRE

    Item #: i_345932
    Bottle Size: 750ml
    Burghound: 92 OUTSTANDING
White Burgundy is one of our favorite wines and the purest expression of Chardonnay comes from the great, cool climate appellation of Chablis. This delicious, mouth-watering style offers such transparency and transmits the racy minerality in a way that no other can.

Over the past several years, the wines of Louis Michel have become a staff and customer favorite. They offer everything you could want, exhibiting signature characteristics of Chardonnay from this region. This is the perfect wine to pair with oysters, shellfish, seafood or poultry or to refresh as we move into the warmer time of the year. Both the 2015 and 2017 Louis Michel Montée de Tonnerre wines are designated as "Outstanding" by Burghound's tough critic, Allen Meadows.

The Michel family has been making wines in the heart of Chablis since the 19th century and the domaine is now overseen by Guillaume Michel. Louis Michel & Fils were among the first to vinify its wines only in stainless steel tanks. This approach highlights the purity of the Chardonnay with these wines exuding finesse, purity and freshness.

Montée de Tonnerre is located on the right bank of the Serein River alongside the Grand Crus. It is regarded as the most prestigious and sought-after of the Chablis Premier Crus. The famous chalky Kimmeridgian soils are deep and well drained. The south-west facing vines enjoy plenty of sunshine and produce a wine with sun-kissed aromas. This is the ultimate expression of a successful partnership between soil and climate resulting in powerful wines that are complex and balanced.

BURGHOUND 92 POINTS OUTSTANDING - "(from a huge 4.5 ha parcel located in Chapelot). A pretty and distinctly ripe nose combines even more prominent notes of white flower along with those of pear, apple and quinine. The refined, pure and reasonably well-detailed medium weight flavors possess good richness and density while delivering reasonably good length on the moderately dry and lemon-inflected finale. This is also very classy and a wine that should benefit from a few years of bottle age to develop more overall depth"

    Item #: i_345574
    Bottle Size: 750ML
    Burghound: 89
Situated in the heart of the Chassagne-Montrachet region of Burgundy’s scenic Cote d’Or, Chateau de la Maltroye is easily recognizable from afar by its signature glazed tile roof. This stately bourgeois mansion was actually constructed in the 18th century over the ruins of a 15th century building, whose old cellar was nevertheless maintained, and continues to store the estate’s wines today. The vines are 40 years old on average, though most of them are well over 50. Jean-Pierre and his team carry out extensive manual soil work and sustainable treatments on these vines. This beautiful and rare Chardonnay offers floral touches of hawthorn, acacia and honeysuckle, along with verbena and hazelnut on the nose. On the palate, the wine reveals a deep minerality and a kind of toasted character, developing notes of honey and ripe pear over time.

  16. CHAVY CHOUET 2017 BOURGOGNE BLANC LES FEMELOTTES

    Item #: i_351540
    Bottle Size: 750ml
We recently tasted the 2017 releases from Domaine Chavy-Chouet and were thoroughly impressed. We called down additional staff members to try them at the wine bar and everyone was blown away by the entire line-up. This is exactly what we look for from fine Burgundy where Chardonnay achieves its greatest expression. We immediately grabbed as much wine as we could and are thrilled to offer you our best white Burgundy purchase in recent memory.

For those wanting to do a "deep dive" into what makes White Burgundy so special these wines from Chavy-Chouet are the perfect introduction. Romaric took over day to day operations of the estate in 2014 after growing up in the vineyards. He has great respect for the history and tradition of Burgundy yet has made improvements in the vineyard and the cellar which reveal themselves in every bottle.

The Bourgogne Blanc is a fantastic wine which will make believers out of anyone who tries it. You would be hard pressed to find a better white Burgundy for the price. Vinous Media's Burgundy critic, Neal Martin loved the Chavy Chouet wines and wrote, "There is a lot in this regional white and it represents great value." This wine is an absolute steal and one to purchase by the case with confidence.

Enjoy the wines from Chavy Chouet and discover how good Chardonnay can be.

VINOUS 90 POINTS - "The 2017 Bourgogne Blanc Les Femelottes comes from five parcels from 15 to 60 years old vines adjacent to the Puligny-Montrachet village crus. It has a lovely, almond and white chocolate scented bouquet that is very well defined. The palate is well balanced with a fine thread of acidity, a touch of bitter lemon and frangipane towards the composed, quite phenolic finish. There is a lot in this regional white and it represents great value."

The wines from Puligny Montrachet, Saint Aubin and Meursault are made in the same manner with the only difference being the vineyards themselves. They are textbook examples showcasing the terroir of three different appellations. Trying these wines side by side is a revelation.

Chavy Chouet's wines have a transparency which allows the terroir to express itself loud and clear and reflect the very essence of their appellations. By that we mean, Puligny tastes like Puligny should showcasing perfect balance with white flowers, orchard fruit and vibrant citrus flavors. The St Aubin Premier Cru reflects its location near the famed Montrachet Grand Cru vineyard. The limestone based soils transmit tension, precision and minerality characteristic of the appellation. The Meursault from the Premier Cru Charmes vineyard is mesmerizing with a richness and depth one would expect yet is accomplished without any heaviness at all.

Enjoy the wines from Chavy Chouet and discover how good Chardonnay can be.

VINOUS 92 POINTS - "The 2017 Saint-Aubin Les Murgers des Dents de Chien 1er Cru comes from a parcel that was actually forest until 1986. Romaric Chavy told me it is always the last vineyard to ripen. It has a fragrant bouquet with apricot blossom, fresh pear and light nectarine aromas, all very seductive. The palate is very well balanced, very pure with a fine bead of acidity. This feels very harmonious and utterly seductive. You could easily drink this now although it will sure age in bottle. Superb."

WINE & SPIRITS 94 POINTS "Year’s Best White Burgundy": "“One of the prized parcels in Philippe Duvernay and Laura Coffinet's domaine, Fairendes lies in the upper, northern sector of Morgeot, where the thin, rocky soil created a dramatic 2014, a brash, fleshy, naked chardonnay. The cool lime flavor and gracious acidity makes it racy, while persistent minerality gives it an enoki mushroom savor. Several panelists called it out for being sexy and classical. I found it lively, with awesome complexity for a premier cru wine.”

  20. DAVID CROIX 2016 CORTON CHARLEMAGNE

    Item #: i_351598
    Bottle Size: 750ml
The vineyards are farmed organically. The only thing David Croix doesn’t like in 2016 is the lack of volume. He was full of praise for the quality of the vintage, explaining that the grapes were very healthy at harvest despite the difficult season, and said the aromas in the winery during fermentation were glorious. He describes the wines as “harmonious, with nothing that is out of balance”. No Bourgogne was made this year, there are tiny volumes of village wines and several of the Beaune Premiers Crus have been blended to make a single wine. In fact, only Corton-Charlemagne has achieved anything like a normal yield. This has delicious red fruit and almost endless strawberry and juicy cherry flavours- although this is not a massive wine. The 60-year-old vines are planted on shallow topsoil with lots of iron oxide which gives the dense tannic structure.

  22. DEMOUGEOT 2016 MEURSAULT

    Item #: i_352091
    Bottle Size: 750ml
Demougeot is a native of Burgundy who started his domaine in the heart of Meursault in 1992. Today he has a total of almost 20 acres under vine and makes 14 different wines so there isn't much of any single wine. There are no synthetic herbicides, pesticides or fertilizers used in the vineyards. Much of the plowing is done with a horse and all harvest is by hand. The farming is probably closer to biodynamic than organic but he follows neither with religious ferver, instead relying on his connection with the land to determine the methods that keep the land the healthiest and most lively. The style here is one of classism and elegance. The wines are gentle and never forced yet have a verve that allows them to age with ease. Fermentation is done in cement cuve. Elevage is relatively long at 18 months for both the red and whites. Chardonnay grapes for this 2016 Meursault are sourced from three distinct parcels in three lieux-dits, namely ‘Les Chaumes, ‘Les Pellans’ and ‘Limouzin’. Vines are 18-60 years of age. Matured for 12 months in French oak barriques, 10% new. It shows hints of white peach and minerals on the nose. Elegant and bracing on the palate with beautiful notes of peach, apple, nectarine and minerality.
