  2. PAOLO BEA 2011 SAGRANTINO DI MONTEFALCO "VIGNETO PAGLIARO"

    Item #: i_301584
    Bottle Size: 750ml
Bea produces perhaps his most renowned wine from pure Sagrantino grown on the prized hilltop site of “Pagliaro,” situated at 1300 feet above sea level in Montefalco proper. As one might expect given the power of the 2011 vintage, this wine approximates a cosmic event—neutron-star-dense, with a brooding interweaving of elements that seem to have its own gravity field yet bristles with explosive energy. On the nose, one feels the presence of the whole plant and the earth in which it grows: savory, complex fruits both fresh and dried, all laced with a balsamic undertone; black licorice and warm spice cake; and stem-influenced, wispy, almost herbal notes which counterbalance the wine’s bottomless depth. Somehow, amidst all of this, a sense of restraint emerges—shocking to behold in a wine that exceeds 15% alcohol, but Bea’s wines are always rife with happy contradictions. This is a bold, riotous, flashy vintage of “Pagliaro” that will surely stun all those who cross its path.

  3. ADA NADA 2015 BARBARESCO "VALEIRANO"

    Item #: i_302039
    Bottle Size: 750ml
"From vines planted in the “cru” Valeirano. The wine is racked into large “botte” (casks) plus several barriques to account for the overflow. The wine is then aged for 20 to 24 months prior to being bottled, unfined and unfiltered. There is elegance to this Barbaresco alongside the rather sturdy tannins that frame the spice-driven fruit at the center of this wine’s profile. A classic wine of the appellation with woodsy notes, spry acidity and excellent lift on the palate." -ROSENTHAL WINE MERCHANT

  4. ADA NADA 2016 BARBERA D'ALBA "PIERIN"

    Item #: i_302040
    Bottle Size: 750ml
A clean, rich and juicy Barbera with clean floral and fruit aromas. "'Pierin' blends fruit from two neighboring vineyards and bears the name of the family associate who supplied much of the old vines fruit for this wine...the wine is racked into large oak casks of 30 hectoliter size where it ages for one year. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration. Its character is muscled and exuberant with a rustic shrug of its broad shoulders." - ROSENTHAL WINE MERCHANT

  5. AGOSTINO PAVIA 2015 BARBERA D'ASTI "BLINA"

    Item #: i_301177
    Bottle Size: 750ml
'Bricco Blina' is the name of the vineyard. This wine is a direct, straightforward rendition of the Barbera grape. Fresh acidity and berry flavors are the hallmarks of Barbera, but low yields and old vines give this wine very good depth and concentration, too. Fermentation and aging are completed in stainless steel.
The wine is a bright red color with a violet rim; aroma of red berries and mineral; palate is classic Barbera, bright raspberry/cranberry flavors with a very long finish. A classic that is wonderful with a variey of foods. Pizza, pasta, meats, cheeses....

  6. AIA VECCHIA 2015 LAGONE

    Item #: i_381401
    Bottle Size: 750ml
    Decanter: 93 Points
One of our favorite everyday value reds just got better! With the help of one of the best vintages for Tuscany, Aia Vecchia has given us another reason to love Super Tuscans. This estate has been bringing us incredible value since the 90's with the help of the late legendary winemaker of Ornellaia, Tibor Gal, who assisted them in the start of their own winery. The Pellegrini estates include vineyards in some of the most reputable spots in Bolgheri. The home to some of the most well-known Super Tuscans in the world including the highly regarded, Sassicaia. The one place where Bordeaux varietals take precedence over any native Italian grape.

Lagone has always exceeded the expectation for a wine at this price. And the 2015 vintage is absolutely one of the best illustrations of the true value and quality that Aia Vecchia shows us year after year.

The Pellegrini family have been grape growers for many generations and have sold their grapes to some of the Top Super Tuscan houses for many years. Their property, Casavecchia, is adjacent to the highly regarded Ornellaia and shares many attributes of its more famous neighbor. Somehow, even in this high rent district, Aia Vecchia has brought us an affordable interpretation of this fantastic Mediterranean climate location. This fantastic Super Tuscan is drinking exceptionally well right now!

DECANTER MAGAZINE 93 POINTS - "Silver Award Winner: Lots of ripe strawberry and black fruit on the nose, the palate has lovely super concentrated ripe cassis fruit, with vanilla and spice."

60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc. Aged in various types of oak barrels for 12 months; aged six months in bottle. Dry, structured and elegant with flavors of plum, ripe cherries, wild berries and a hint of spice, followed by a lengthy and smooth finish that begs for food.

  8. ALDO CONTERNO 2013 "COLONNELLO" BAROLO

    Item #: i_303649
    Bottle Size: 750ml
    Wine Advocate: 94
    Wine Spectator: 95
WINE SPECTATOR 95 POINTS - "Camphor and leather notes introduce this rich red that transitions to cherry, licorice, spice and tobacco flavors. It's firm and intense, with a lingering aftertaste of mineral, licorice and spice. Terrific now, but even better with time. Best from 2021 through 2042." 400 cases made.

WINE ADVOCATE 94 POINTS - "The 2013 Barolo Bussia Colonnello is the most ethereal and delicate of the Bussia series of wines. Fruit is sourced from a portion of the Bussia vineyard that is located closer to the village of Barolo (one kilometer away) than it is the village of Monforte d'Alba (five kilometers away). The sandy soils found here make for softer and tamer tannins especially when compared to the other parts of Bussia. The bouquet opens to aromas of blue flowers, spice, wild berry, licorice and white truffle. This is a softly nuanced and finessed Barolo made with fruit from 45-year-old vines."

The Conterno family has been making wine since the 1700’s and Aldo Conterno is regarded as one of the greatest producers of Piedmont. As a young man, Aldo worked with his brother, Giovanni before striking out on his own in 1969. He developed a reputation as an innovator with a focus on quality and attention to detail and passed this dynamism on to his three sons who now run the business.

Aldo’s small property on the hill of Bussia in Monforte D’Alba has grown into a marvelous 25 hectare estate. The Aldo Conterno Barolo’s are intense and concentrated examples of perfectly ripened Nebbiolo grapes from superior terroirs, grown at a gentle altitude that allows for optimum finesse. The three top ‘Crus’ on the famed Bussia slope produce the three flagship Barolos of the estate.

    Item #: i_303722
    Bottle Size: 750ml
    Wine Advocate: 97
    Wine Spectator: 95
WINE SPECTATOR 95 POINTS - "This is packing some vanilla- and Bourbon-scented oak aromas, with a core of cherry, leather, tar, iron and tobacco flavors. It's solidly built, with dusty tannins clinging to the long finish. A powerful example, this should gain finesse as it ages. Best from 2022 through 2040.." 400 cases made

WINE ADVOCATE 97 POINTS - "The stunning 2013 Barolo Bussia Romirasco represents a stylistic blend between the elegance of Monforte d'Alba and the brooding power of Serralunga d'Alba. These are magnesium-rich soils mixed with limestone and clay. Romirasco is also home to some of the estate's oldest vines at 55-years-old on average. This beautiful wine opens to a dark and rich garnet color that comes from the concentrated fruit produced by these old plants. The bouquet is laced with mineral and iodine-like nuances with rust and iron. It comes across as rich and intense and the mouthfeel is slightly softer, but denser overall. The wine ends with long balsam tones of rosemary and dried ginger."

  10. ALESSANDRO E GIAN NATALE FANTINO 2017 ROSSO DEI DARDI

    Item #: i_301420
    Bottle Size: 750ml
Anthony Lynch (Son of Kermit Lynch, Importer) - "Why not capture Nebbiolo’s dazzling aromatics in the form of a light, early-drinking red with low alcohol and soft tannins? While [Alessandro & Gian Natale Fantino's] venerable Barolos belong in every collector’s cellar, it is their beguiling everyday rosso that I find myself craving the most. Its perfumed Nebbiolo fruit and sweet, tender tannins would make a full-grown Barolo look back longingly at its former self, nostalgic for its sprightly youth. Serve it ever-so-slightly chilled."

Using sustainable farming methods, this is a great everday Nebbiolo mellowed in stainless steel for just 6 months before release.

  15. ALLEGRINI 2010 LA POJA

    Item #: i_345926
    Bottle Size: 750ml
    Wine Advocate: 93
WINE ADVOCATE 93 POINTS - "...one of Italy's most unique wines. This is a pure expression of the Corvina Veronese variety, the chief component of Amarone wines made according to the appassimento process. La Poja allows this finicky grape to sing solo with some 20 months in new barrique followed by eight months in the bottle. The results are outstanding with pristine cherry and blackberry followed by spice, leather and tar."

On the top of the hill called La Grola lies a plateau of less than 3 hectares dazzling white in color, due to tis calcareous top soil, and planted exclusively with Corvina since the late 1970's. After more than four years of bottle aging, the 2012 La Poja shows extraordinarily vivacity with a full spectrum of fresh-picked fruit and baking spice characteristics with subtle herbal elements.
It take 2 vines to make 1 bottle of wine.

Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Oseleta are left to air dry at least until December and are checked daily to ensure perfectly healthy grapes. Lengthy refining and ageing finally yields a red wine that has become emblematic of Italian oenology, alongside Barolo and Brunello di Montalcino.

"A fresh, creamy, medium- to full-bodied red, with fine, supple tannins layered with flavors of crushed black raspberry, fig cake and spiced orange, offering a subtle, savory underpinning of smoky mineral and tobacco that lingers on the finish. Long and elegant."

La Grola is the extraordinary result of the meeting of two great personalities: the hill of La Grola and the Valpolicella’s autochthonous grapes. The excellent exposure of the vineyards, which enjoy the sun’s warm rays and the cool breezes that come from nearby Lake Garda, allows the grapes to produce their very best.

WINE ENTHUSIAST 92 POINTS - "This savory wine bursts with plum, cassis and chocolate aromas that follow through to the taut, elegant palate alongside hints of bell pepper and black pepper. It's fresh and still tightly wound, with firm, velvety tannins. Drink through 2024."

    Item #: i_302461
    Bottle Size: 750ML
NOT ONE TO BE MISSED! The Allegrini estate is based in the Valpolicella region of Italy and represents the highest expression of Valpolicella wines. Palazzo Della Torre is a “Cru” wine coming from a single vineyard and is known as their “Baby Amarone.” The blend of 70% Corvina, 25% Rondinella and 5% Sangiovese takes two different paths. Thirty percent of the grapes are left to dry on racks till December, in true Amarone style, and the other seventy percent vinified immediately.

The fresh wine is blended with the juice from the dried grapes for a second fermentation and the end result is an absolute sexy wine, deep in ruby red color, with flavors of blackberries and mocha.

    Item #: i_303352
    Bottle Size: 750ml
    Wine Advocate: 94+
    Wine Spectator: 95
WINE SPECTATOR 95 POINTS - "An intense perfume of juniper, bay laurel, sage, rose and berries marks this silky red. The structure is there, yet superb balance and refined tannins help this retain elegance through the long finish. Almost ethereal in its presence."

WINE ADVOCATE 94+ POINTS - "The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino is absolutely unique in terms of its aromatic display. To me, the nose is particularly beautiful because I have a preference for balsamic notes of cola, mint or medicinal herb (that may not be to everyone's liking). You get those in spades here. These aromas are often more prominent in cooler vintages like 2013 in the Brunello appellation. In this case, they resemble intense eucalyptus. There is subtle fruit at the back, with wild berry and plum. The mouthfeel here is absolutely silky, fresh and streamlined. It is stitched finely together like lace. I am curious to see how a wine like this ages and whether the aromas hold tight or eventually fall flat. I would suggest a slightly shorter drinking window. But for now, this is my kind of Brunello. Bottoms up!"

    Item #: i_301564
    Bottle Size: 750ml
    Wine Advocate: 91
WINE ADVOCATE 91 POINTS - "Based in an authentic sense of territory, the 2013 Chianti Classico Riserva Villa Antinori is 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot - although Renzo Cotarella tells me that the goal is to soon make this wine 100% Sangiovese. The bouquet is generous and nicely concentrated with dark fruit nuances and succulent spice at the back. Delicate floral nuances of wild rose and violets are given ample room for expression. The mouthfeel is velvety and fine in texture. This is an excellent set of wines from Marchesi Antinori and the talented winemaking team based in Tuscany. I am particularly impressed by the two top wines - Tignanello and Solaia - from the 2013 vintage. Compared to 2011 and 2012, both these wines show a superior sense of harmony and intensity."

An intense ruby red color and features equally intense aromas of red fruit, raspberries and blueberries, followed by hints of oak and spices, particularly cloves. On the palate, the wine is vibrant and rooted in terrior of the area with supple tannins.
