Andrea Franchetti created two very different vineyard projects. Franchetti created Tenuta di Trinoro from scratch, on rough farm and woodland in the far-flung reaches of southwest Tuscany. His second project was on the slopes of Mt. Etna-- this involved the renaissance of reclaimed formerly abandoned terraces of vines upon Sicily’s live volcano. Both sites are extraordinary, complex, and poles apart in terms of terroir. Each wine expresses the characteristics of the vintage, the particulars of the locations and the fullest potential of the varieties.
"Le Cupole" is a fascinating blend that is balanced by excellent tannins and acidity. The nose showcases notes of mixed red berries, candle wax, rose petal, hints of spice (cinnamon), wild flowers, strawberry tea and passion fruit. The lush, varied menagerie of olfactory delights coalesced easily into harmony-- what a lovely nose! The palate continued with the ripe fruits (raspberry, mulberry, plum) as a supporting cast of spice, minerality and mixed florals joined excellent body to create a rich, ripe, wonderfully balanced, eminently drinkable wine. Enjoy with classic fare: grilled red meats, pasta with ragu, tomato-based dishes and aged cheeses (Pecorino).

WINE ADVOCATE 94 POINTS - "A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, the Tenuta di Trinoro 2022 Le Cupole remains one of Italy's greatest value buys, especially for fans of concentrated, sun-drenched Tuscan reds. The fruit is ripe, but not overripe, and there are thick layers of blackcurrant and Morello cherry at the core. These are framed by toasted spice and cinnamon. The wine is medium to full-bodied, although the ample fruit weight gives this vintage a bigger overall mouthfeel. Drink 2024-2035."
57% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Franc, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon & 6% Petit Verdot
