History,

Prepare to be amazed by the SPQR Edition IV, a sublime and rare fusion of two distinct terroirs. The 2009 Trinidad rum from the T.D.L distillery, which has benefited from a tropical ageing of 5 years, reveals spicy notes, enhanced by the heritage of the Ex-bourbon cask. This profile is wonderfully complemented by the 2017 Mauritian rum, from a secret distillery and made from pure cane juice. The latter has not undergone tropical ageing, giving it an unprecedented freshness. Bottled at 48%, there are only 990 bottles available. A real invitation to tasting. Don't miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Antonio Bleve tells us about this SPQR edition Of course, the Roman season that our company is going through must have had an impact on the choice of the name of our latest rum blend. We decided we wanted a rum that would explain our philosophy in all latitudes and on all battlefields. Hence the reference to Imperial Rome, in a bottle that allows the best bartenders to use a curiously unusual ingredient. A rum to be drunk neat at first, then mixed in a second time, in order to appreciate its depth, evolutions, possible variations and complexity. Be careful, this rum will come to an end. Therefore, any recipe in which our spirit will be one of the main elements will not be able to last forever. Oddly enough, this fills us with pride, because nothing should be forever and nothing should be designed to be repeated forever. Quality needs to evolve with what's happening every day in our world. A nose and a palace reminiscent of Mare Nostrum, the Mediterranean surrounded by the Roman Empire. A long walk from the gateway to Asia and Cappadocia, through the roads of Greece and southern Italy, to the lavender fields of Provence and Italy. Dried figs, dates, lime blossom honey, fruit marinated in alcohol, then fruit firmed by the sun and caramel, candied apricot, sweet spices, saffron... a long list of sweet pairings. Equally opulent, balanced, fascinating, virile, generous, expressive, tireless on the palate. We are surprised, conquered, convinced, attracted, and then left alone to be brought back to where we are, without faltering, without getting tired – in fact, with crisp vivacity.

Tasting Notes,

Nose: miel, fleur d’oranger, raisins secs

Palate: mandarine, réglisse, poivre noir.
