Yealands’ Single Block wines are crafted from parcels of exceptional fruit from vineyard blocks recognised for the distinctive flavors they produce. The sheltered S1 block is the most inland, on the edge of the sustainably managed Seaview Vineyard, on an elevated plateau – 160km above sea level. Located in some of Marlborough’s harshest conditions, strong coastal winds, low rainfall, high sunshine and cool nights, these low-yielding vines produce small berries, with thick skins and an intense varietal character. This S1 Sauv Blanc, in particular, showcases how intense and beautiful this varietal can be and why New Zealand is a top destination for fans of this grape. Classic New Zealand nose: gooseberry, pink grapefruit, lemon grass, minerally well water, along with stonefruit (peach) and tropical (pineapple) streaks. The palate continues the theme: grapefruit citrus, orange blossom and white peach flavors, along with excellent forward acidity, lead to reflections of minerality and sweet tropical fruit on the long finish.
