  1. BRUNO CLAIR 2016 CLOS DE BEZE GRAND CRU

    Item #: i_350451
    Bottle Size: 750ml
    Burghound: 96
    Vinous Media: 96
VINOUS 96 POINTS: "The 2016 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru has a generous and pleasing nose with scents of strawberry preserve, crushed stone, rose petals and subtle orange-blossom. This is refined and transparent. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannins. Beautifully balanced, this has a symmetry that is beguiling and classic. A little austere finish suggests it will benefit from several years in bottle. Utterly beguiling with enormous ageing potential."

  2. DENIS MORTET 2017 GEVREY CHAMBERTIN 1.5 LAVAUX ST JACQUES 1ER CRU

    Item #: i_352753
    Bottle Size: 1.5L
    Decanter: Score above 95 points
DECANTER 96 POINTS: "The Mortets' five parcels here cover 1.2ha in all, and run from the top of the Combe de Lavaux to the bottom, close to the Clos St-Jacques. Fermented without whole bunches, this is another superb red from Arnaud Mortet, now established as one of the best red winemakers in Burgundy. It's juicy, textured and crunchy, with the acidity that's typical of the terroir and deftly handled 80% new wood."

  4. DOMAINE BERTHEAU 2015 BONNES MARES GRAND CRU

    Item #: i_351791
    Bottle Size: 750ml
This small parcel of Bonnes Mares (0.34 hectares) is on red soils which tend to give the more muscular and deep expressions of the vineyard. This 2015 certainly does not disappoint, with its structure that frames the core juicy, dark fruit. A beautifully sweet and inviting palate, which has a lift and a hint of wildness to it which reflects Francois’ hands off approach. Refined but powerful tannins provide the support for the long term. 5. DOMAINE DENIS MORTET 2017 CLOS DE VOUGEOT GRAND CRU

    Item #: i_350607
    Bottle Size: 750ml
    Wine Advocate: 96
DECANTER 96 POINTS: "Located just below Château de la Tour in what Arnaud Mortet calls 'the best part of the lower part of the Clos', the domaine's parcel runs to 0.35ha. Made with 30% stems and 70% new oak, it's very much a clay-derived style with plenty of texture, smooth tannins and layers of sweet, sensuous red berry fruit."

  6. DOMAINE DUJAC 2017 ECHEZEAUX GRAND CRU

    Item #: i_354100
    Bottle Size: 750ml
DECANTER 96 POINTS - "Dujac's single 0.23ha parcel in the lower part of Les Champs Traversins is one of their younger vineyards, having been planted in the early 1980s. With 90% whole bunches and 70% new oak, this is an intensely floral, spicy, perfumed number with violet top-notes, chalky minerality and a tapering, refreshing finish. A classy grand cru bottling. 8. DOMAINE PONSOT 2006 CLOS DE LA ROCHE CUVEE VV ***LOCATED AT WAREHOUSE***

    Item #: i_352215
    Bottle Size: 750ml
    Wine Advocate: 97
WINE ADVOCATE 97 POINTS: "Sweetly ripe black fruits in the nose of the Ponsot 2006 Clos de La Roche Cuvee Vieilles Vignes prepare the way for a more succulently, generously sweet fruit, plush texture, and generally sunny disposition than that presented by the corresponding Clos St.-Denis. Ripe cherry and red currant flood the creamy, silken palate with sweetness, while some of the same notes of citrus oil, floral perfume (here iris), and peat as exhibited in the Clos St.-Denis swirl about, too. Saline, chalky suggestions help offer contrast and a sounding board to the fruit, and this finishes with exhilarating lift, riveting interplay, and phenomenal length. Here is a combination of textural allure and backbone for which velvet gloves and iron fists seem inappropriately mundane -- not merely archaic -- metaphors. Blind -- I must confess (and did, to Ponsot) -- that I would more likely have guessed this to be Musigny than Clos de la Roche. In an extreme instance of a phenomenon shared by many of the best 2006s, I find this irresistible now; find it hard to imagine its having ornery or sulking phases; yet expect it will be worth following for 20 years."

  9. DOMAINE PONSOT 2015 CHAPELLE CHAMBERTIN

    Item #: i_333340
    Bottle Size: 750ML
BURGHOUND 92-95 POINTS: "Once again there is just enough reduction present to mask the underlying fruit but not the earth and underbrush elements; moreover it is sufficiently light that I doubt that it will persist for very long. Otherwise there is a slightly finer mouth feel to the sleek, intense and muscular mineral-driven flavors that explode on the sappy, rich and balanced finale that displays strikingly good length. However, note well that like the Charmes, this is definitely not constructed for early drinking so be prepared to have at least some patience."

  11. JOSEPH DROUHIN 2014 CHAMBOLLE AMOUREUSES 1ER CRU

    Item #: i_345629
    Bottle Size: 750ML
    Burghound: 92 - 95
BURGHOUND 92 - 95 POINTS -"Don't Miss - Outstanding! This is also gorgeously spicy with ripe and very fresh black cherry, red currant and sandalwood aromas. There is superb intensity to the overtly mineral-driven and beautifully delineated middle weight flavors that are shaped by a very firm but not hard tannic spine as there is good phenolic maturity here. I very much like the balance of the long and quite serious finale that is an exercise in harmony, indeed this could aptly be described as quite Zen-like. In a word, brilliant."

  12. LE MOINE 2016 CLOS DE BEZE

    Item #: i_352740
    Bottle Size: 750ml
    Vinous Media: 97
VINOUS 97 POINTS - "Good medium ruby. High-pitched violet perfume lifts the aroma of ripe black cherry. Wonderfully suave, intense and refined, with a pungently fresh quality that reminded me of cut grass. This highly concentrated wine has perfectly integrated acidity, as well as a stronger limestone character than usual. In a rather masculine style but also seamless and suave. Finishes with outstanding length and class, the tannins totally buffered by fruit and minerals. Mounir Saouma noted that this wine has been "great since the beginning."

BURGHOUND 96 POINTS - "Exuberantly spicy liqueur-like aromas of cassis, dark cherry and plenty of floral elements introduce the succulent, round and seductive, even opulent imposingly-scaled flavors coat the palate with dry extract while a subtle minerality adds a bit of lift to the stunningly persistent finish. This very classy effort is balanced and beautifully complex and while it should reward long-term cellaring, it should also be approachable after 7 to 8 years if desired."

WINE SPECTATOR 96 POINTS - "This is complex and evokes both fruit and vegetal flavors. Black cherry, black currant, tomato leaf and beetroot combine, along with floral and spicy top notes. It's all supported by a firm, even scintillating structure, with chalky tannins lining the resonant finish. Best from 2022 through 2040. 25 cases imported."

  18. LOUIS JADOT 2015 CHAMBERTIN CLOS DE BEZE GRAND CRU

    Item #: i_350701
    Bottle Size: 750ml
    Wine Advocate: 95-97
    Burghound: 93-96
WINE ADVOCATE 95 - 97 POINTS - "The 2015 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru has another very composed and delineated bouquet that for me attests more complexity and terroir-expression than the Chambertin. This is just exquisite - you can feel the vineyard here. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin, a keen line of acidity, very supple tannins with a surfeit of finesse and refinement on the finish. This is one of the best releases from Louis Jadot this vintage out of over 100 samples reviewed. These tasting notes belong under the umbrella of "Louis Jadot", though it should be pointed out that these bottlings are under "Domaine Louis Jadot", that is to say that the company owns the vines rather than through contracts with growers. See also "Maison Louis Jadot", "Domaine Gagey" and "Domaine des Héritiers Jadot". (12/2016)

BURGHOUND 93 - 96 POINTS - "Plenty of wood and menthol elements mark the wonderfully spicy and notably ripe nose that combines notes of red berry fruit liqueur, a panoply of spices and a whisper of mocha. The highly seductive and concentrated flavors possess an opulent mid-palate mouth feel that is borderline unctuous, all wrapped in a gorgeously long, complex and well-balanced finish. While the sheer density of material should enable this to be approached after only a decade or so, if you wish to see it at its peak, this too is pretty much a “buy and forget you own it” wine. 19. MICHEL LAFARGE 2017 VOLNAY LES PITURES 1.5 1ER CRU

    Item #: i_353115
    Bottle Size: 1.5L
BURGHOUND 91 - 94 POINTS - "Once again there is a bracing freshness to the cool and much more deeply pitched nose of plum, red berries, floral and newly turned earth. As one would expect, there is notably more volume and power to the muscular and mineral-inflected large-scaled flavors that conclude in a delicious, mouth coating and very firm finale that coats the mouth with sap. Note that my projected drinking window is based on the large format bottling."

  20. SYLVIAN CATHIARD 2018 VOSNE ROMANEE 1ER CRU EN ORVEAUX

    Item #: i_351994
    Bottle Size: 750ml
    Wine Advocate: 93-95
    Vinous Media: 94-96
VINOUS 94-96 POINTS: "The 2018 Vosne-Romanée En Orveaux 1er Cru is perhaps the overlooked gem within Cathiard’s portfolio, a view shared by the winemaker himself. This latest iteration has brilliant delineation on the nose, offering intense blackberry, raspberry and crushed mineral aromas that blossom with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with filigreed tannins, a killer line of acidity and a sense of symmetry toward the long finish. This is outstanding."

WINE ADVOCATE 93-95 POINTS: "The 2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru En Orveaux is a magical wine in the making, wafting from he glass with a profound bouquet of cherries, licorice, exotic spices, rich soil tones and orange rind. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, multidimensional and muscular, with a deep and concentrated score, rich and powdery tannins and a long, succulent finish."
