ANTONIO GALLONI'S VINOUS MEDIA 95 POINTS - "Winemaker Anthony Yount and his wife, Hillary Lind, run Royal Nonesuch Farm. The wines are all made from their estate vines located in a 7.5-acre vineyard on York Mountain. The couple focuses on Grenache, Graciano, Syrah and Clairette, producing blends and mono-varietal wines. Yount’s style sings through the 2021 Syrah Spine and estate Red. New oak is kept to a minimum, if used at all, allowing grape typicity, terroir and vintage character to shine through."
"The perfumed 2021 Red Royal Nonesuch Farm is a total pleasure to take in, as incense, split pine and lavender complement dried black cherries. This is silky-smooth and energetic in feel with crisp minerality up front that perfectly offsets its core of ripe red and blue fruits. The 2021 maintains fantastic energy throughout, motivated by brisk acidity, as a subtle coating of fine tannins lingers, leaving spice tones and a floral resonance. Glorious."
JEB DUNNUCK 94 POINTS - "The 2021 Red checks in as 70% Grenache, 17% Graciano, and 12% Syrah, with the balance Clairette, all of which spent 18 months in barrel. It has a rocking nose of crunchy black cherries, mulberries, peppery herbs, and graphite, with medium to full-bodied richness on the palate. This pure, vibrant, flawlessly balanced beauty brings plenty of richness and length while staying focused and graceful. It's beautifully done and should have 10-12 years of prime drinking."
ROBERT PARKER'S WINE ADVOCATE 94 POINTS - "The 2021 Estate Red combines 70% Grenache, 17% Graciano, 12% Syrah and 1% Clairette Blanche. It leads with rich, blue-fruited aromas framed by lifted, earthy accents of dried tobacco leaves and dried citrus peels. The texture is plush, suave and pretty, with an energetic, juicy palate that admirably straddles forward concentration and deft, delineated nuance through the finish. The Royal Nonesuch Farm is one of the more exciting developments in York Mountain and Paso Robles as a whole, and I eagerly await more releases."
