DECANTER - 98 POINTS At times, the reductive style masks the origin of Tim Frohlich's wines. However, the Felseneck site always manages to assert itself. The soil is a mix of Rotliegend, blue Devonian slate, quartzite and Balat, very rocky and barren - and also very expressive. Above all, the usual smoky notes, alongside grapefruit, are balanced by an impression of dried light tobacco leaves. Very intense and very long.
JAMESSUCKLING.COM - 98 POINTS Gigantic, flinty nose that makes you feel like you are licking the moist underside of a piece of vineyard slate on a hot summer day. Yellow-grapefruit, blood-orange and guava aromas. Enormously concentrated and vibrant, with almost supernatural energy, this dry riesling lifts off and heads straight out of the solar system. At the extremely long finish, the minerality really doesn’t want to stop! From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drinkable now, but best from 2024. Stuart Pigott.
