Our Wine of the Month 2 program aims for outstanding value and a healthy quality-to-price (QPR) ratio-- we want a wine that will drink way above its price point. We do this with our 'main' Wine of the Month program but aim to keep that category closer to the $10-12 price point. We allow a higher ceiling for the "WOM2" program and have been able to find some pretty amazing wines for the prices. Pike Road is sister winery to Elk Cove Vineyards, where they have been making outstanding Oregon wines for over four decades. The 2023 Pike Road Pinot is a fantastic expression of the Willamette Valley and highlights the commitment the Campbell family has to this beautiful part of the wine world. Adam Campbell is owner/winemaker at Elk Cove and started Pike Road to honor the local winegrowers his family has worked with for decades.
The Pike Road 2023 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir showcases bright aromas of cherry juice, raspberry, floral touches and savory overtones. The palate is juicy with vibrant acidity matched with cherry, red plum and Christmas spices. The finish is nicely balanced showcasing great length for the price point!
The Pike Road Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is made from 100% Northern Willamette Valley fruit, sourced from 15-20 trusted vineyard partners in the Willamette Valley, plus fruit from their own Estate Vineyards. By integrating fruit from multiple AVAs, soils, elevations, and growers, this Pinot Noir is a true example of Willamette Valley Pinot Noir.
Head Winemaker Heather Perkin's philosophy is a big reason for their success: “My winemaking style makes creative use of the growing season’s influences on the fruit from each unique vineyard site. While I tightly regulate the production processes to ensure consistent quality, I leave plenty of room for the grapes to shine. I have always said, my role is to continue the vineyard crews’ hard work and shepherd the grapes to bottle!”
