It was Spring of 2013, and Jacques Lardière had just retired after leading winemaking at Maison Louis Jadot for 42 years. He was looking for an Oregon property to buy with Thibault Gagey, whose family operated the Maison since 1962. They immediately fell in love with a property in the Yamhill-Carlton District of the Willamette Valley, and after tasting through dozens of wines made with the vineyard's fruit, Jacques sat back and said, "Perfect."
By encouraging biodiversity on the vineyard floor, using organic farming practices, and controlling crop yields for optimal ripening, Resonance believes that devoting themselves to their vineyards through sustainable, hands-on viticulture is the first step in great winemaking. The Willamette Valley Pinot Noir from Resonance is sourced from two of their estate vineyards (Resonance in Yamhill and Decouverte in Dundee Hills), along with top vineyards in the Willamette Valley. Resonance will only work with like-minded wine growers throughout the area who share their commitment to cultivating terroir-driven Pinot noir. The result is a cuvée that offers an authentic representation of the Willamette Valley AVA.
ROBERT PARKER'S WINE ADVOCATE 92 POINTS - "For the first time, the 2023 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley from Résonance is made entirely from estate fruit. Matured for 17 months in 30% new French oak, it has pure scents of pomegranate, burnt orange peel, pepper, mossy bark and mushrooms. The medium-bodied palate is elegantly styled with layers of earth-laced fruit and seamless oak integration. It’s framed by velvety tannins and bright acidity and has a long, layered finish."
WINE SPECTATOR 92 POINTS - "An elegantly structured red, with vibrant cherry and pomegranate flavors laced with black tea and forest floor tones that build tension toward fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2033."
