Josh Phelps isn’t just making a name for himself in the wine industry, he’s making the industry roar with enthusiasm! Having learned time-honored techniques from his father Chris Phelps (whose deft hand has helped to create wines at Dominus, Chateau Petrus, and Ad Vivum), Josh is focusing on using that knowledge to produce wines that are easier on the credit card. Last year’s releases became some of our biggest sellers, and now he’s cracking into the world of Oregon Pinot Noir!

We harvest quickly and gently at optimal ripeness, then cold soak the must for three days. Daily pump-overs are conducted during fermentation while maintaining cool temperatures to incorporate maximum aromatic complexity. The new wine was aged in stainless steel and neutral French oak barrels, resulting in this singular expression of Pinot Noir. The 100% Pinot Noir final blend was bottled in August 2024.

The 2023 Landform North Willamette Valley Pinot Noir was hand-crafted from a trifecta of Pinot Noir clones - 115, 777, and 828. Our three grower partners own and manage their own vineyards and are committed to very high viticultural standards. The 2023 Willamette Valley growing season began slowly, following a cold spring. Fortunately, summer and fall were warm and dry, allowing us to harvest optimally ripe fruit during the first week of November.

Brilliant vermilion in color, our 2023 Landform Pinot Noir leads with pure aromas of sweet cherry, plum, ripe raspberry, and a touch of baking spice. The tannins are supple, and the wine remains fresh and vibrant throughout the lingering finish, making it a versatile companion for an array of cuisines.
