Hourglass takes its name from the fact that the vineyard defines the pinch, or narrowest part of the hourglass shaped Napa Valley. Proprietors Jeff and Carolyn Smith's vineyards lie two miles north of St. Helena off of Lodi Lane and Highway 29. Neighboring vineyards include Grace Family, Colgin's Tychson Hill, Vineyard 29, Ahern, Korte Ranch. The wine is made by the talented Tony Biagi, who also made wine at Plumpjack.

ANTONIO GALLONI 94 POINTS - "The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Blueline Estate is a heady, racy wine. Super-ripe dark cherry, tobacco, scorched earth and licorice add tons of nuance. There's a lot of Calistoga-savory/earthy intensity in this potent young Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a fine showing of a wine that came together very well in the cellar."

JEB DUNNUCK 93-95 POINTS - "There are just 30 barrels of the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Blueline Estate, a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot, 8% Malbec, and the rest Cabernet Franc. It's a medium to full-bodied, concentrated, yet elegant 2021 with ripe blue fruits, some violet, leather, and herbal nuances, fine tannins, and a vibrant, focused, classic style that's going to age gracefully."
