HISTORY

Created in 1997 and pioneer of French whisky, Celtic Whisky Distillerie (CWD) is one of the most successful distilleries in France. It is located in the heart of Trégor, on the north coast of Brittany, and was founded by two enthusiasts, Jean and Martine Donnay. The climate, and the fact that the distillery and the cellars are just a few meters from the sea, make these whiskies unique in France. Kornog is a single malt with a distinctly peaty character (50 ppm phenols) that rivals its prestigious Scottish neighbours.

THE BLEND
Kornog is the result of a precise and meticulous elaboration process that leaves nothing to chance. The raw materials are rigorously selected to combine the Scottish tradition and the French know-how.

PRODUCTION
Celtic Whisky Distillerie is probably the only one gathering under the same roof the specificities that make it possible to elaborate a whisky in the purest tradition: heating with an open flame, slow distillation, small onion-shaped pot stills, wooden fermenters, serpentine condensers, ageing in Bourbon cask by the sea, without cold filtration and keeping its natural color. WORD OF WISDOM “There is good whisky in France. The best distillery in continental France is probably Glann Ar Mor, “by the sea”, in Breton. Their production has a very regular quality,” said Jim Murray (The Whisky Bible) in December 2018. Indeed, the production of Celtic Whisky Distillerie has been rewarded by a continuous presence in the famous Whisky Bible for the last 10 years. Since June 2020, Celtic Whisky Distillerie belongs to Maison Villevert, whose mission is to offer a portfolio of exceptional spirits.
