ORGANICALLY FARMED
The R56 bottling comes from vines around the family estate in the Brandini district of La Morra. At a high altitude for the region, and exposed to the cooling influence from the Alps, it's most floral and finessed of their single-vineyard Barolos, but more intense than their La Morra Barolo: "high tones, fine lines, tense and bright red fruit, exotic purple fruits and flowers, and a structure built more on acidity than its soft chalky tannins." (THE SOURCE, Importer)
"Made from organically farmed Nebbiolo grown in the vineyards that surround the cellars in the Brandini MGA in La Morra and fermented partly with the whole bunches, this rich Barolo opens with alluring aromas of crushed mint, ripe berry, fragrant blue flower and dark culinary spice. Full-bodied and enveloping, the polished palate offers crushed raspberry, ripe Marasca cherry, cinnamon and ground clove. Velvety tannins provide elegant support while fresh acidity provides balance. " - KERIN O'KEEFE
Brandini is a small estate on Barolo's La Morra ridge, with cooler sites that offer a response to the region's rising heat levels. Purchased by Piero Bagnasco, former CEO of Fontanafredda and a co-founder of Eataly, he saw the future of Barolo through the eyes of his daughters: clean farming and traditional cellar practices, but with a finessed and precise winemaking hand. He passed the torch to his daughters, Giovanna and Serena, in 2018, and they are hitting a great stride with their latest releases!
