Edgar makes wines that knock our socks off and the intensity of these wines are rivaled by few here in the United States. He's not afraid of hard work, he doesn't cut corners and he's insistent that his team brings these same qualities to the winery every day. For this reason, his team has lovingly called him a name that rhymes with the fanciful name of this wine (if you know, you know). Edgar's "CabRhone" bottling is a blend of two Cabernets (38% Cabernet Franc, 28% Cabernet Sauvignonon) and two Rhone varietals (8% Grenache, 16% Petite Sirah). In their original home of France, these varietals scarcely share a latitude in common. The Cabernets come from the west (Bordeaux) while Grenache and Petite Sirah come from southern and eastern France ("Rhone"). Due to their differing regions of origin, they can't legally be blended or even grown with one another back home, but Edgar knows what a special synergy these grapes have when they get to know each other in a bottle and he refuses to compromise his vision by blindly conforming to the traditions of the Old World.
JEB DUNNUCK 92 POINTS - "Red and black fruits, spring flowers, cedary herbs, and some chocolate notes all emerge from the 2021 El CabRhône, a medium to full-bodied, round, lively, beautifully textured red based on 38% Cabernet Franc, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Grenache, and 16% Petite Sirah that saw 10% whole clusters and 19 months in 9% new French oak."
