Arran Barrel Reserve is the best tasting pure clean Scottish whiskey on planet earth. It has a purity and smoothness unmatched by the higher priced Scott whiskeys. Many people feel their Scott whiskey needs to have some peat or oak flavor. Others sing the praises of having their whiskey aged in used wine casks. For purists such as myself I prefer an unflavored pure smooth whiskey. Don't need my Scotch tasting like peat moss by association to a close by ocean or oak trees by virtue of an oak cask. No thanks. If you want to taste what a pure amber Scott whiskey tastes like chose this one. The barrel reserve is 43% alcohol by volume which is three less than the 10 year. But the slight difference is what makes this smooth. It's a masterpiece. This is the one. The best.
