The name ‘Speziale’ refers to the spicy nature of Pelaverga. Winemaker Vittore Alessandria keeps fermentation temperatures to a modest 25°C in order to preserve the grape’s signature peppery snap. Ginger and thyme further offset sweet strawberry and raspberry flavours. A vibrant mouthful, yet lightweight with barely-there tannins, this is a delightful study of contrasts. - DECANTER
