Adelaida has five organically-farmed vineyards in the coastal influenced Santa Lucia Mountain Range, on the west side of the Paso Robles AVA. Situated on steep hillsides, these sites lie within the Adelaida District, a sub-appellation in the northwest corner of the wine region, elevations ranging from 1400 - 2050 ft, limestone subsoils, and extreme diurnal temperature swings (a key for high-quality wine). This Syrah was planted on a 30-degree slope to maximize sun exposure, which produces grapes with intense flavors.
Syrah continues to be one of the most versatile grapes of the Golden State, brimming with complex and intense flavors from both warm and cool climates and garnering high scores from critics such as Robert Parker and Wine Spectator! In fact, Wine Spectator, the most widely read wine-related periodical in the world, has stated that Syrah "now makes more great wine in more regions than any other grape in California." That's quite a bold statement, especially considering the high quality of our Cabernets and Chardonnays!
Jet black, with a richness and intensity of color ripe for diving into. Take in all the aromas of black fruits, hoisin sauce, crushed rocks, and wild things, it is all going on. Taste blackberries, plum sauce, cracked pepper, vanilla-chocolate-covered espresso beans. Eyes wide shut sees the feral suggestions that high-quality Syrah hints at along with a seemingly contradictory lavender and violet fragrance. Almost a red wine reduction shows all the concentration of flavors that is a fine Syrah, think Cabernet Franc meets Zinfandel. Fire up the grill, turn up the tunes and have fun, you deserve it. Drink now through 2025.
