The Zuccardi name might be familiar to you as we've featured many of their wines from Argentina over the years, usually praising them in our "Top Wines" annual feature. Well, we're still singing their praises but this time it's as our Wine of the Month 2, where we select a high quality wine that offers a lot more value than the price point might suggest. The 'Q' part of the Zuccardi Q line, the first labels that the family put their name on, means that the grapes are selected from vineyards and plots that show top Qualities that will reflect their terroir and heritage well.

Cabernet Franc is perhaps more well known as a grape to blend with, seen and tasted in Bordeaux blends from France and other red blends from North American and other regions ascross the wine world. On its own, Cab Franc can be an elegant, light red that's versatile and delicious-- which encapsulates the Zuccardi Q quite well!

The nose is rife with dried cherries, strawberry preserves, scrub brush, incense, mixed brown spices and a touch of cedar. A definite mélange of scents that lead to the palate. Cherries are in the foreground, layered with notes of beautiful Bings and background fruit leather iterations, as a supporting cast of dark florals, black cherry, black tea and dark spice add depth and more flavor. The finish is robed in sweet cherries and light pepper spice as appropriate tannins and acidity keep the wine light on its feet. This is a complete wine, comfortable in its own skin and tastes way above what the price suggests. Pair with duck, lamb, game, pork, pastas with red sauce, BBQ, hard cheeses or enjoy solo.

JAMES SUCKLING 95 POINTS - "Very attractive blueberry and black-cherry aromas with some tarragon undertones. It’s full-bodied with chewy tannins that show layers and polish."
