Rabarbaro Zucca is a historic Milanese amaro built around Chinese rhubarb root and a secret selection of rare herbs. Its story dates back to 1845, when a doctor prepared a rhubarb-and-herb infusion for Ettore Zucca’s wife. Ettore was taken with its distinctive flavor, added alcohol and created a liqueur that would eventually become a favorite in Milan’s fashionable cafés.
Rich, earthy and bittersweet, Zucca opens with a deep herbal aroma before revealing flavors of dark molasses, bitter rhubarb root, gentle smoke and warm spice. Its sweetness softens the initial bitterness without covering it, leading to a long, pleasantly spiced finish.
HOW TO ENJOY: Sip it neat or over ice after dinner, lengthen it with soda and citrus for a refreshing aperitif or use it to bring smoky, bittersweet depth to a Black Manhattan, Negroni or other amaro-based cocktail.
