WINE ADVOCATE 91 POINTS Ziereisen's Blauer Spätburgunder (a.k.a. Pinot Noir) 2018 Schulen comes from Jurassic limestone soils and, after a maceration of six weeks, was aged for 20 months in Assmann barriques, of which only 10% were new. Bottled unfiltered with 12.5% alcohol, the slightly reductive bouquet reveals fresh and spicy cherry aromas. Silky, fresh and elegant on the palate, this is a lighter, refined and stimulatingly salty Pinot with a refreshing limestone tannin character. This isn't a very complex Pinot Noir, but it's a straight, fresh and still astringent one at a very good Village quality level. Natural cork. Tasted from lot L 27 20 in October 2021.
