  1. ALAIN VOGE 2015 CORNAS FONTAINES V.V.

    Item #: i_345737
    Bottle Size: 750ML
    Wine Advocate: 96
eROBERT PARKER 96 POINTS: "Only produced in top vintages (this is the first since 2012), the 2015 Cornas Vieilles Fontaines comes from 80-year-old vines within the La Fontaine lieu-dit. It's a tough wine to evaluate at this stage, as it's quite closed and reticent on the nose, showing some crushed-stone notes and typical granite-based austerity, but on the palate it shows great purity of fruit and vigor. It's full-bodied but tight-laced, focused on driving through the long finish like a thoroughbred down the stretch. Give it at least 5 years in the cellar"

WINE SPECTATOR 95 POINTS - "An understated style, but focus and you’ll see just how lovely the cassis, cherry and raspberry flavors are, carried by riveting acidity and flecked with notes of powdered white pepper and violet. An iron girder drives the finish, pulling everything along. This is defined by pure, sleek cut. Best from 2020 through 2035.

  5. COURSODON 2016 SAINT JOSEPH L'OLIVAIE

    Item #: i_322198
    Bottle Size: 750ML
    Wine Advocate: 94-96
ROBERT PARKER 91-93 POINTS: "Sourced from 60-year-old vines and aged in 15% to 20% new oak, the 2016 Saint Joseph l'Olivaie offers a concentrated mouthful of black olive and cherry fruit, a velvety texture and a long, cool finish. This medium to full-bodied wine should drink well on release and for up to decade. Young Jerôme Coursodon now farms 16 hectares in Saint Joseph, centered around Mauves, just outside Tournon. He considers the 2016s more approachable than the dense 2015s."

JEB DUNNUCK 91-93 POINTS: "Leading off the 2016s from barrel, the 2016 Saint Joseph L'Olivaie comes from the lieu-dit of the same name and vines averaging 60 years in age. It’s a ripe, concentrated beauty that's loaded with notions of black raspberries, scorched earth, spice and pepper. With medium to full-bodied richness, ripe, present tannin and a great finish, it's going to be a great value. I continue to love the wines from the young Jerome Coursodon, who pulls from roughly 16 hectares of vines all in the southern part of Saint Joseph, mostly just outside the village of Mauves. The 2015s are monster, blockbuster styled efforts that I suspect won’t appeal to the traditionalists out there, but are singular wines. The 2016s are more elegant and finesse-driven, yet still pack in more sweet fruit than just about everyone else out there."

  6. DOMAINE JAMET 2015 COTE ROTIE

    Item #: i_345739
    Bottle Size: 750ML
WINE ADVOCATE 95-97 POINTS: "The 2015 Cote Rotie was scheduled to be bottled the day after my visit, so I tasted the final blend from tank. Jean-Paul describes the vintage as a cross between 2009 and 2010, adding that "as it's aged, it's gotten less broad and longer." The warmth of the year hasn't detracted from the wine's floral aromas, and the berry fruit is still fresh but concentrated. This medium to full-bodied wine is rich and tannic but also ripe and almost creamy on the mid-palate, finishing with hints of tapenade. It should begin to drink well by age 10, although it's far from unapproachable now. Aside from Guigal, I know of no other producer with such extensive experience with so many of Côte Rôtie's various lieux-dits. Tasting at Jamet hilltop cellar is always a study in geology and microclimate more than anything else, as the winemaking is resolutely traditional. All of the Côte Rôtie parcels are vinified as whole bunches, and there's still only a small proportion of new wood in the cellars, so it's possible to really taste nuances in the various barrels. Jean-Paul Jamet is always gracious with his time and wine, making it a true pleasure to visit."

JEB DUNNUCK 95-97 POINTS: "The 2015 Côte Rôtie was scheduled to be bottled not long after my visit. This is an undeniably great vintage at this address, even if Jean-Paul prefers his 2016s, calling 2015 'too much.' It’s worth pointing out that he thought the same about his 1991, which is a borderline perfect wine today. The 2015 sports a deep ruby/purple color to go with searing notes of pepper, smoked meats, flowers, and assorted black and blue fruits. With full-bodied richness, a concentrated, thick mid-palate, sweet, yet present tannin, and a huge finish, this is a wine to back up the truck for. A warning, however -- it’s not for those looking for instant gratification. Readers looking for classic, old-school, age-worthy Cote Rotie should look no further than the wines from Jean-Paul and Corinne Jamet. While 2015 is an incredible vintage for this estate, the 2016s are also some of the more impressive in the appellation."

  7. DOMAINE PICHAT 2011 COTE ROTIE GRAND PLACE

    Item #: i_345209
    Bottle Size: 750ML
    Wine Advocate: 93
eROBERT PARKER 93 POINTS: "Even better, the 2011 Cote Rotie Grandes Places is a slightly more long-term prospect. Offering up plenty of chocolate, espresso, bacon fat, smoked meats and gorgeous blackberry/cassis-styled fruit, this medium to full-bodied, layered effort has vibrant acidity, excellent mid-palate depth and fine tannin. Give it 3-4 years in the cellar and enjoy over the following decade."

  10. GUIGAL 2015 COTE ROTIE BRUNE ET BLONDE

    Item #: i_300085
    Bottle Size: 750ML
    Wine Advocate: 93
WINE ADVOCATE 93 POINTS - "Much more open and inviting than the Hermitage, Guigal's 2015 Cote Rotie Brune et Blonde boasts hallmark aromas of dried flowers, herbs, raspberries and black olives. Medium to full-bodied, it's simultaneously rich and silky, showing fine, balanced acidity on the crisp finish. Considering it may account for as much as a third of the appellation's volume, it's a remarkable achievement and testament to the tremendous quality of the vintage. Even folks who buy and cellar the La Las will want to have some of this in their cellars for early drinking."

  11. LIONEL FAURY 2016 COTE ROTIE

    Item #: i_345202
    Bottle Size: 750ML
The Côte-Rôtie from Lionel Faury is life-changing— the type of wine that could send someone down the beautiful road of falling in love with wine. These days, a true Côte-Rôtie made in the traditional way is a rare find, and this is as traditional as it gets. With a seemingly perfect amount of floral Viognier to balance the gamy and vigorous Syrah, this is the definition of a complete wine. If you’ve ever wondered what red wine from the Northern Rhône is all about, there is no better place to start. –Will Meinberg
