VALDESPINO QUINA APERTIVO JEREZANO (RED) 750ML

From the stellar Sherry portfolio of Valdespino, the Quina takes Oloroso Sherry and Pedro Ximenez sherry from the soleras of El Candado and macerates them with cinchona bark, licorice root, gentian and additional herbs and spices. The result is a brooding savory nose that turns bitter sweet on the palate just like a good tonic should do. Nose: Dark fruits with more velvety, caramelized notes, dates and raisins. Here the Pedro Ximénez stands out. There’s a big savory side to it as well, with roasted notes and herbs. Mouth: more bitterness and a more savory character, although the PX is there to keep it in check. A lot more dense, with the roasted aspect of nuts standing out. Liquorice and subtle vanilla. Also lots of cloves and hints of nutmeg.
