We can't tell you which of Orkney's two distilleries this one came from. But let's just say we suspect we suspect you'd be thrilled by the one it is. This distillery often uses a mix of delicate heathered peat with its malts, and its bottlings usually are a mix of ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks. This one shows none of the sherry, a fairly rare taste at this distillery's liquid "naked." The result is something for which the peat is more pronounced, but is still by all means subtle, and much more approachable than Islay's style of peat. Coastal, spicy-sweet, and quite complex, this one is sure to generate some Hype.

Nose: Light peat. Honeyed malt. Slightly vegetal. Asian spices. Coastal.
Palate: Mild peat engages nicely with malt. Black pepper. Heather.
Finish: Heather and honey increase. Malt. Licorice. Coastal seabreeze. Brazil nuts. Dark chocolate.
