One of the best values in everyday port. This is lively and spicy, with cinnamon nuances, and other characteristics that just scream "the holidays." Sweet and full on the palate. Delightful drinking! From the Wine Spectator: "Lots of vanilla overtones join the sweet cherry and dark plum flavors. Hot spice marks the finish. Drink now."
The NV Lodge Reserve Port bottling with the typical major grapes in the region, aged up to three years in wood. It comes in with a bar-top cork and 110 grams per liter of residual sugar. Solid in the mid-palate, this shows good concentration for the category and some power on the finish as well. The expression of fruit is not quite as interesting, but it gives you the impression of a rather serious wine. This showed better with some air. Overall, it's a nice success.
