Once again, we have a fine Singleton of Glen Ord expression in the Diageo Special Releases. But 2025 marks a distillery-first finish. The whisky marries second-fill sherry casks with a mezcal finish to create a 17-year-old single malt that layers Glen Ord’s trademark orchard fruit with smoky, earthy agave character.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Honeyed pear and apple strudel lead, joined by vanilla cream, baked citrus peel, and a subtle struck match sulphur note. Mezcal’s earthy smoke lingers in the background, with dried herbs and roasted pineapple.
Palate
A lively mix of raisin and marmalade sweetness balanced by green chilli spice, with roasted agave and cocoa nibs emerging alongside toasted oak and candied ginger.
Finish
Long and complex, with pepper warmth, leathery spice, drying oak, and a last wisp of mezcal smoke.
