Siduri is one of our more popular domestic Pinot Noirs in the store, as they show rich, vibrant fruit profiles without going over the top. And we just received our final shipment of their 95-point Pinot Noir from the Santa Lucia Highlands!
The Santa Lucia Highlands perches on the east-facing terraces of the Santa Lucia mountain range to the south of breezy Monterey Bay on California's central coast. This area boasts the unique combination of abundant sunshine and a truly cool climate, thanks to the cool Pacific Ocean just a mere 20 miles away. These cool afternoon winds slow the ripening process, so even though budbreak is early here (by almost a month compared to other regions), the fruit matures slowly to full phenolic ripeness in late September or October. The result are rich, silky, and vibrant wines that are delicious at release, and able to go the distance in the cellar.
Siduri's winemaker is Matt Revelette, whose illustrious resume shows the depths of his oenological talents. After falling in love with wine by working in vineyards during his summers as a college student, he obtained his Masters in Viticulture and Enology from Fresno State, where he published research on grape and wine tannins. His extensive experience includes some of the greats in the wine industry, including Williams Selyem, Kosta Browne, Quintessa, and Mending Wall (where Schrader, Maybach and Pulido Walker - amongst others were made by Thomas Rivers Brown).
Siduri's Santa Lucia bottling is comprised of fruit from the best vineyards in the region: Garys', Rosella's, Sierra Mar, and others. Any winery producing Pinot Noir from this area would love to get fruit from any one of these three respected vineyards, yet this bottling contains fruit from all three!

Dark and earthy but elegant and refined, the 2024 turns out lovely shades of juicy black raspberry, blood orange, lavender, underbrush and black tea. This wine has been scaled up considerably (now 12,000 cases), and the price has come down by $10, which solidifies it as one of the best value plays for readily available Pinot Noir in the United States. Polished and balanced, the 2024 is absolutely fabulous."
