Another banger of a Cabernet and phenomenal deal from Paso Robles? Sign us up! After we had tasted this and fell in love, we read a bit more about it on the winery website (serialwines.com; quote below). Mr. Truchard had us at "outstanding fruit quality" and "approachable pricing." This has been the goal of both our Wines of the Month since we started them a few decades ago.

With Serial's 2020 Cab we love the bright forward fruit on the nose, cherries and red berries, that are subtly influenced by a layer of balsa wood, cacao, sassafras and candle wax. Depth and deliciousness in one nosing? You bet. The palate continues where the nose left off, reiterating the cherries and red berries as a wave of soft tannins and light acidity keep the body of the wine supple and lovely. Seconday nuances include wood spice, earth and notes of assorted herbals. The finish brings a flourish of red berries, cherry cola and a further hint of wood. This is a refreshing Cab that will be great with or without food. From the tailgate to holiday parties to front porch or backyard simplicity, Serial Cab will elevate your burger, brats, charcuterie or carne asada game to the next level.

"After years farming grapes in Napa Valley, I decided to explore a new terroir, Paso Robles. Serial Wines comes from the idea that we will be producing a series of wines from the region. I chose Paso Robles and surrounding micro-climates for outstanding fruit quality at approachable pricing. Here, I could make the rich, opulent wines for which we have become known, without an indulgent price tag. Serial Red Blend started the series in 2015 with unique labels of original artworks representing the diversity of the blend. Serial Cabernet Sauvignon followed. These wines will soon be joined by single-grower cabernet sauvignons and a surprising rosé from the region." -John Anthony Truchard
