This bottling is a 8 barrel blend of the original Chardonnay plantings in sandstone soils at their estate vineyard, Bassi, located 1.2 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The vines were planted in 1999 to Clone 4 Chardonnay, with 8 x 5 spacing, on a south facing hillside. This vineyard is organically farmed.
The juice was collected in tank, settled overnight, then barreled down to neutral french oak barrels for native yeast fermentation. The wine went through native malolactic fermentation over winter and aged on lees for 19 months without sulfur. This wine was racked for the first time to bottle, without fining or filtration, and with minimal sulfur at bottling to capture the energy of the wine. 192 cases were produced.
