From the Rothman & Winter collection — the Austrian fruit liqueur line of Destillerie Purkhart, the family distillery founded in 1932 in Austria and run today by Günter Purkhart, whose exacting standards have made him a teacher to many of today's leading producers. Fresh-pressed quince juice is combined with fine quince eau-de-vie, both drawn from the October harvest in the alpine valleys of the region — deliberately bottled at higher proof and lower sugar than standard liqueurs to reinforce the fruit's intensity.
Nose: Vivid quince with notes of apple, pear, bright citrus, honey, and rose.
Palate: Sweet, tangy, and floral.
Serve: With soda, green tea, or sparkling wine; or with agave spirits and gin to bring tartness and acidity to cocktails.
