PRACTICES ORGANIC FARMING
65% Sangiovese, 15% Sagrantino, 10% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon
This medium-full-bodied Montefalco is very "Mediterranean" with a classic dusty earth accent to the bold, foresty red fruit and a light balsam undertone (thanks to its year and a half of aging in oak barrels). On the palate, there's a fine balance of stoniness and lightly unctuous fruit texture, all imbued with a subtle energizing of tannins and acidity tucked inside. A crowd-pleasing but authentic expression of Montefalco's famously bold reds!
JANCIS ROBINSON 16.5 - "Deep forest fruit but without being rich. Succulent and, in spite of its 15%, elegant palate weight. Grainy tannins and long forest-fruit finish. "
"The 2020 Montefalco Rosso Capo de Casa takes its time in the glass, slowly evolving with dried strawberry, mint leaf and dusty cedar notes. This is a round and juicy effort, with vividly ripe red and blue fruits and sweet spice energized by vibrant acidity. A gentle layer of dusty tannins lingers as the 2020 finishes with a tart raspberry tinge. The Capo de Casa is a sexy Montefalco Rosso that aims to please." -Eric Guido, VINOUS MEDIA
"Organic fertilizer, grass cover between the rows, correct management of the land and foliage, direct exposure of the grapes to the sun and low yields per hectare are some of the agricultural practices that we undertake day after day to reach our objectives. All these actions are in harmony with the philosophy of the Romanelli Nature project, which rejects chemical fertilizers, insecticides and herbicides and strives to maintain the balance of the ecosystem with the installation of artificial nests." - WINERY NOTES
Aged in French oak of various sizes for a year, and lightly filtered at bottling.
