This wine was crafted from the Rewa Estate in Coombsville, Napa Valley. The fruit was harvested by block and fermented separately, pressed, transferred to French oak barrels, and kept as individual lots for approximately ten months. The wine was then blended and returned to barrels for an additional year of aging in French oak. The wine was bottled without fining or filtration.
2019 Khanda is a seductive Cabernet Sauvignon blend with Cabernet Franc and Malbec. The aromas are complex and fresh with plum, chocolate covered cherry, red currant, violet, lavender, coffee grounds and a hint of tobacco. The approach is bright and dominated by the cherry and plum notes as well as raspberry, mushroom and vanilla. Deceptively soft tannins result in an elegant mid-palate providing the foundation for an extended finish.
ANTONIO GALLONI 95 POINTS - "The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is elegant, precise and refined, all qualities that make it a real pleasure to taste today. Inky dark fruit, lavender, mocha and dried herbs flesh out in the glass, framed by grippy tannins that give the wine its shape. The 2019 is shaping up to be a real gem."
