Privateer's Queen's Share - Aged 4 Year is made using the traditional Cognac technique of redistilling the seconds - the transitional distillate between the rich hearts and bitter tails.
The result is a spirit of outstanding quality, deep complexity, and exceptional character.
Our Aged 4 Years expression is an artful blend of Queen's Share barrels aged in new and used American oak casks for no less than four years. These casks are then blended and re-barreled in neutral casks for continued aging before being bottled at cask strength.
Unsweetened: No post-distillation sweeteners are added, creating a dry rum.
Cask Strength: bottled at a higher proof, concentrating power & depth of flavor.
No Additives: Our rum is a product of spirit, water, oak, & time. No artificial oak flavor, age flavor, or dyes are used.
HISTORY REPEATED
Our founder’s ancestor, the original Andrew Cabot (1750-1791), was a merchant, rum distiller and successful American privateer during the American Revolution. His fleet totaled more than twenty-five ships including the True American, for which our rum is named. We carry on this spirit of New England independence and gritty determination by dedicating ourselves to making only the finest rums possible through our uncompromising adherence to the use of best ingredients and best practices. A NEW REVOLUTION American Privateers’ played a pivotal role in defeating what seemed an insurmountable foe. Their courage and ingenuity helped change the outcome of the Revolution. Privateer Rum is following suit, disregarding commonly accepted practices of larger rum producers including sweetening, flavoring, filtering and spicing their industrial distillate, to establish a new standard in rum – one of honesty and purity.
