JOHN GILMAN 93 POINTS - "The 1996 Echézeaux is beginning to show signs of secondary development, jumping from the glass in a classic Echézeaux mélange of plums, cassis, leathery tones, woodsmoke, pure earth, espresso, herb tones and a nutty overtone that I often associate with maturing Echézeaux. On the palate the wine is deep, medium-full and tight, with great intensity in the mid-palate, excellent nascent complexity, and outstanding length and grip on the modestly tannic and tangy finish. Like so many 1996s, this is a wine that will age gracefully for decades on its excellent acidity. 93+"
