It's great to see our Orange County locals get into the wine business and succeed, but very few have been able to do it on the level of McPrice Myers. And now, from the guy who got into wine while working at the local TJ's, comes one of the best Syrah values in California!
McPrice Myers has long been a favorite winemaker and friend of ours, because he produces insanely delicious wines at more than reasonable prices. He has become one of the "gurus of Grenache" and a "sultan of Syrah" in California's Central Coast, and this Syrah is going to prove it!
A few years back, our buyer was visiting/touring/tasting around the Paso Robles region when McPrice Myers was rebranding a few of his wines. Two of the wines were just about to be bottled, and Mac invited our buyer to the winery to taste them, and of course our buyer said "yes" (if you've ever had Mac's wines, you know why this was a no brainer). Vis-a-vis their pricepoints, our buyer felt that Mac's "Blue Collar Series" (of which had a Cabernet, Syrah, and Grenache-blend) far exceeded anything else he tasted on that trip! Flash forward to our buyer's most recent Paso trip, and he still feels these wines deliver more value than virtually anything else in the region!
WINE SPECTATOR 90 POINTS - "A youthful version, offering an array of raspberry and red currant notes that build richness, taking on black plum and dark chocolate accents. Finishes with dried tobacco and olive details around firming tannins. Drink now through 2033. 2,674 cases made."
