The weather here in the U.S. has warmed, and not only does that mean more camping in the mountains, boating on the lakes, and trips to the beach, but it also means more time to fire up those grills! And whether we're cooking up some ribs, steaks, chicken, or portobello mushrooms, Syrah is one of our go-to choices. So if you're like-minded, then boy have we landed a knockout of a wine for you!

Andrew Murray fell in love with the emerging Rhône varieties (Syrah and Viognier) in the late 1980's while traveling through France's Rhône Valley. Leaving his UC Berkeley paleontology studies behind, he pursued his new mistress, Syrah, with an internship in Australia. Returning to the states, he earned a bachelor's degree in viticulture and enology from UC Davis' renowned wine program, then founded his eponymous Santa Ynez winery and vineyard. Andrew and his family were drawn to the natural beauty, climate, soils, and topography of Santa Barbara County. It all reminded him of his travels through the Rhône Valley where he first fell in love with the notion of winegrowing while just a teenager.

As Robert Parker, Jr. put it, "...Andrew Murray's offerings are a breath of fresh air given their exceptionally high quality and realistic prices - reader take note." Truly remarkable wines are not "made", rather, they are grown. It's all about soil and climate, or as the French would say, 'terroir'. The cool, coastal climate, uplifted, hilly topography, and ancient sea-bed soils converge to create the ideal terroir for wine grapes. Andrew Murray farms their vineyards sustainably to ensure they can harvest modest yields of impossibly high-quality fruit.

"Tous les jours" translates to "every day"...and this wine is just that, something that is easy enough on the pocket book so you can enjoy this just about any day you want! Comprised of Syrah from cool/cold vineyards for that raspberry and pepper, and warm vineyards for that ripe blackberry jaminess, the wine was aged entirely in French oak barrels for 16 months, something that is often reserved for wines that cost 2-3 times this price!

ANTONIO GALLONI'S VINOUS MEDIA 93 POINTS - "Tasted just after bottling, the 2023 Syrah Tous les Jours is once again an unbelievable value that packs in a ridiculous amount of character and fruit density. Blackberry, mocha, black cherry, graphite and sweet pipe tobacco flesh out in the glass. The 2023 is a mouth-coating, perfectly balanced wine that's loaded with juicy freshness and so much nuance. Just mind-bendingly good for the price."

JEB DUNNUCK 91 POINTS - "A smoking value, the 2023 Syrah Tous Les Jours offers pure red and black fruits, peppery herbs, flowers, and black tea notes in an outstanding expression. Medium-bodied, juicy, and lively, with solid tannic grip and outstanding length, this 100% Syrah aged 16 months in used French oak is perfect for drinking over the coming 4-6 years or so. Drink 2025-2031."
