LUIS ALEGRE 2010 KODEN

A "semi-Crianza" of 100% Tempranillo, this is a refreshing, easy-drinking, deliciously fresh red, only showing a touch of rounded spice at the very end. Visually appealing in the glass, it is bright cherry-red in color, with aromas of even riper cherries and wild herbs. Assertive in the mouth, it has mixed berries and abundant primary fruit that are supported by a firm underlying structure of tannins and acidity, making this wine perfect on its own or with a meal. It is versatile and fine for a dinner party over suckling pig. This wine comes from 30- to 40-year-old Tempranillo vines, leading to a distinctive concentration. It was aged for six months in American and French oak, 20% of which was new. The oak is so well-integrated that one only detects a touch of spiced vanilla on the long finish.
