ANTONIO GALLONI - VINOUS - 93-95 POINTS The 2022 Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr Alte Reben Grosses Gewächs was made from centenarian vines, in the family since 1911. The nose hints at creaminess but not much more. The palate comes in with a lovely, pithy astringency coating the mouth with citrus intensity. This fills mouth and mind with stony elegance and citrus vividness, finishing on Meyer lemon edged with grapefruit spiciness. Very balanced, harmonious, zesty. Elegant. (Dry)
WINE ADVOCATE 92-93 POINTS Loosen's 2022 Wehlener Sonnenuhr GG Alte Reben shows a clear, fine-scented and surprisingly cool nose. The palate is juicy, elegant, spicy and, again delicate, but with the concentration and density of the old vines. It is pleasant and elegant, as if there had been no stress in the hot and abnormally dry summer of 2022. Tasted as a sample in Wiesbaden at the Vorpremiere VDP.Grosses Gewächs in August 2023.
