Crafted in collaboration with Napa’s Matthiasson winery, Leopold Bros Sweet Wermut is an opulent and indulgent vermouth based on historical tradition. Starting with a base wine of barrel-aged Cabernet Sauvignon, Leopold Bros then turned to Artemesia absintium—or Grande wormwood—the primary bittering agent used in the oldest of vermouths. Wermut, meaning “wormwood” in German, is the etymologic origin of vermouth, and while it is a legally required ingredient in all EU-certified vermouths, the US highly regulates its use, making it a rare and notable botanical in this expression. Aromatized with a careful selection of botanicals and fortified using Leopold Bros’ own peach and pear eaux-de-vie, this vermouth is as enjoyable over ice as it is mixed into your next Manhattan or Negroni.
