Brothers Jan and Bart Krupp were told they were crazy for planting a vineyard on hills with such rocky soil. But when they were done, the quality was so intense that wineries such as Caymus, Paul Hobbs, Pahlmeyer, Miner, and Selene were buying their grapes, not to mention those who called them crazy, too!

The vineyard lies in an area known to the Napa locals as Foss Valley, surrounded by Atlas Peak to the south, Pritchard Hill to the north, and Oakville to the east. The soils, elevations, and exposures creat the IDEAL conditions for a variety of grapes, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Chardonnay, Syrah, Viognier, and Sangiovese.

KEB DUNNUCK 97 POINTS - "Getting close to flirting with perfection, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon M5 is heavenly juice. I believe it’s 100% varietal and the aging consisted of 19 months in new barrels. Deep blue fruits, damp herbs, chocolate, smoked tobacco, and some Pauillac-like cedar notes give way to a full-bodied, ultra-fine, uber-pure, yet powerful Cabernet Sauvignon that I guarantee will put a smile on your face over the coming 15-20 years."

ANTONIO GALLONI 96 POINTS - "The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon M5 Stagecoach Vineyard is bursting with crème de cassis, chocolate, cloves, incense and sweet French oak. The M5 is marked by notable inner perfume and textural creaminess, both signatures of this very distinctive block in Stagecoach. The 2019 is a gorgeous, full-throttle Cabernet that delivers the goods."

ROBERT PARKER'S WINE ADVOCATE 95+ POINTS - "As close to black as purple can get, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon M5 Stagecoach Vineyard boasts initially closed aromas of cassis, sage and cedar. Full-bodied and intense, it's nevertheless fairly well-behaved, with fine-grained tannins, a pleasant, streamlined shape on the palate, and a long, gently dusty finish. While it demands some time in the cellar, patience will undoubtedly be rewarded."
