90% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot
DECANTER 92 POINTS - "In the area of Gracciano, sandy soil tends to yield elegant, crunchy wines, as is the case here. In 2019, winemaker Giuseppe Rigoli even did a bit of bleeding of the must to lend some concentration. The result is a full-fruit wine with freshness and flavour. It is in the floral spectrum of Sangiovese, expressing violets and lavender. Its powdery tannins layer up but that juicy acidity keeps the mouth clean. Well-integrated oak allows the fruit to shine."
JAMES SUCKLING 92 POINTS - "Racy strawberries, cherries and plums on the nose with a splash of baking spice, tea leaf and bark. A medium-bodied Vino Nobile with creamy tannins and fresh and supple, medium acidity. From organically grown grapes. Drink now."
Hearty Italian red from one of the oldest wineries in the Montepulciano region. Crunchy red fruits and fine tannins give way to a long finish with woody herbs and subtle minerality. Though it draws on a rich winemaking tradition, the Gracciano Estate is also forward thinking – since 2018, all of its wines have been certified organic.
