History,

THE GLENTURRET BY LALIQUE
50 Years Old As Scotland’s custodians of hand-crafted whisky making, it is with immense pride that we present The Glenturret 50 Years Old. This singular whisky represents some of our oldest casks and is a once-in-a-decade release.
This historic cask was filled in the Winter of 1972, on the 25th of February, before it was carefully rolled into the distillery’s traditional Dunnage warehouses where it lay peacefully maturing for over five decades. With each passing year, this ultra-rare spirit has been developing an ever-increasing complexity and depth, unaware that it is creating history and flavour in equal measure. Now that it has reached the milestone of 50 years old, The Glenturret has deemed that this incredible whisky is ready to be savoured.

With each passing year, this ultra-rare spirit has been developing an ever-increasing complexity and depth, unaware that it is creating history and flavour in equal measure.

Our 50 Years Old whisky has been drawn from a singular remaining cask, filled in 1972, haven spent the last five decades maturing in a refill Sherry cask, resulting in a beautiful antique oak colour.

Limited Release of 150
Housed in a striking, black crystal decanter produced by luxury French crystal house, Lalique, the exterior truly does the liquid within justice; black crystal - the rarest and most expensive crystal as it is the most difficult to produce, mirroring the craftsmanship and skill that went into making such an extraordinary whisky.

Whisky in Lalique To mark this ultra-limited aged whisky being made available, Sotheby’ auctioned off decanter number 1 of 150 during their Whisky in Lalique auction - the first whisky auction in history to exclusively offer Scotch in Lalique.

The final auction price of the decanter and bespoke artwork from Matthew Draper came to £63,000 and was presented in a bespoke black case with mother of pearl inlays.

Tasting Notes

Nose: SWEET AROMATIC CANDY forms an ever-present background to hints of FRESH APPLE and WARM HONEYCOMB.

Palate: SUBTLE GREEN OAK, SYRUP SPONGE, DATES and DRIED PRUNES lightly coat the mouth, a slight touch of ANISEED. Gently AGING OAK reflects the five decades spent maturing in cask.
