The 2004 Ferrand Single Cask Grande Champagne Cognac is distilled from 100% Folle Blanche grapes (the 2001 vintage is made from 100% Ugni Blanc). On the nose, it is wonderfully fresh with the aroma of aged cognac, yet the alcohol is barely perceptible. Only subtle oak notes give way to playful fruit aromas of grapes and ripe fruit. On the palate, robust wood flavors emerge, thick and oily, with a spicy compote of spices and dried fruit. The moderate alcohol level skillfully balances the aromas and complexity on the taste buds. The finish of the 2004 Ferrand Single Cask Grande Champagne Cognac is long and spicy, oily, and wonderfully complex. A great cognac in an elegant aromatic package, wonderful at cask strength yet charming – a true grand seigneur!
