Established in the 14th Century, Domaine Eugene Carrel is located in the village of Jongieux, about 40 miles southwest of Geneva between the Rhone river and Lake Bourget. The vineyards are situated at 1400 feet elevation and are situated on steep, southwest facing slopes. Though close to the Swiss Alps, the climate here is suprisingly warm with an an abundance of afternoon sun. This Brut is a blend of 60% Jacquere, 20% Chardonnay, and 20% Pinot Noir. After the second fermentation the wine is aged sur latte for 18 months in the firm's cool cellar before disgorgement. Dosage is a minimal 4 grams/liter.
