Get ready! We featured another vintage of Domaine Bousquet Malbec (2021) in February, 2023, where it captured our "Wine of the Month" honors and was received very well by our customers and friends. In hindsight, it was fortunate that we did so well with this wine a little over a year ago. Our distributor partners found a cache of 2019 Malbec hidden in their storage facility and remembered that we featured and did quite well with it a year ago-- so they gave us a call.

Basically, we are getting this wine that was hidden away (perhaps in an Indiana Jones-esque warehouse, an aisle over from the Grail) for a great deal --and are able to pass along the savings to you-- a $9.99 wine for $7.99! Ready, steady, GO!

100% Malbec from organic grapes, the nose is filled with dark red fruits and berries, cocoa, mushrooms and a touch of mineral earth. The palate echoes the nose with forward fruit flavors, a mix of red fruits and berries with plum in the fore, that are balanced with medium acidity and tannins-- excellent body and structure. Notes of light spice, earth and forest floor add some depth and complexity. Great flavor and balance in this wine-- a 90-pointer for 8 bucks? Sign us up!! Pair with red meats, sauces, cheeses and pasta.

The Bousquet family hail from the city of Carcassonne, in the South of France, and have 4 generations of history in the winemaking tradition. Their passion is to produce wines of superior quality and this is what lead them to Argentina to begin a new chapter. A 1990 vacation in Argentina was all it took. For third-generation winemaker Jean Bousquet, it was love at first sight. The object of the Frenchman's desire: the Gualtallary Valley, a scenic, remote, arid terrain high in the Tupungato district of the Uco Valley in Argentina's Mendoza region, close to the border with Chile. Here, where the condors fly and there's not a vine in sight, Bousquet discovered his dream terroir, an ideal location in which to nurture organically-grown wines. This Malbec is one of the results of their labors, and wow, does it shine!

#43 ON WINE SPECTATOR "TOP 100" OF 2020
WINE SPECTATOR 90 POINTS
- "Offers a smoky aroma, with refined raspberry and red currant flavors, backed by crunchy acidity. Savory midpalate, with a fine-grained finish that offers black licorice and tar notes..."
