Henry Ranch is a secret gem prized by Napa winemakers in the know; it's home to some of the only Chenin Blanc you'll find in the Valley. And not just any Chenin. It's grown on 80-year-old vines, maintained with the painstaking care of old-school techniques, thriving on remarkable soils, and perfectly positioned to soak up the full glory of the warm morning sun. You couldn't ask for better Chenin growing in California, which is why winemaker Josh Phelps was delighted when offered the opportunity to work with some of this fruit.

Kicking things off in the warm, generous 2019 vintage was a dream. In a site already known for superior ripeness, the mild, even weather helped the grapes get just where they needed to be. At every step of the winemaking process, priority was to maintain the outstanding natural freshness in this wine, limiting exposure to oxygen and keeping cellar temperatures cool. Once-used French oak barrels and frequent lees stirring helped to add satisfying texture and richness to this refreshing, vibrant Chenin Blanc, without sacrificing the purity of its ripe, juicy orchard, citrus, and tropical fruit.
