We love finding an inexpensive Bordeaux that screams value when we taste it! And that's exactly what this wine did. The 2019 Tanesse hails from the Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux appellation in Southern Bordeaux (right bank) and was an immediate charmer when our wine buyers tasted it.

The nose is loaded with forward blue and red fruits with earthy scents of gravel in the background. The palate continues with the dark fruits (lots of blackberries and black cherries) with secondary nuances of earth, spice and a light touch of herbs-- this is all enwrapped in medium tannins and light acidity with a finish that sees black cherry cola and kriek lambic flavors fading slowly, luxuriously on the palate.

This is like an Olympic gymnast-- it's so balanced! Hard to believe it's a sub-$10 wine, but it is! Stock up on this one for January and beyond (will drink nicely over the next few years). Pair with hard cheeses, hearty winter fare, steaks, chops, game, pizza, etc. The Wine Enthusiast gave this wine a score of 92 Points remarking about the wine's "fine tannins and elegant black fruits."

The Gonfrier family has been farming in Bordeaux for more than 60 years, planting vineyards and carefully increasing production. Philippe and Eric Gonfrier have a passion for what they do and respect for the environment as they work on converting their vineyards to organic agriculture.

Château Tanesse is located on a hill among Langoiran's sloping vineyards. This Bordeaux estate was built during the second half of the 18th century by the Tanesse family. The property is surrounded by 30 hectares of vineyard atop very old foundations. Overlooking Langoiran's medieval 13th-century castle, a magnificent panoramic view stretches from the edge of the Sauternais to the outskirts of Bordeaux while following the meanders of the Garonne River.

The vineyard is a mix of gravel and clay soils and is planted to 55% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc with an average vine age of 25 years.

The quality to price ratio of this Bordeaux value is impressive. It's hard to believe a wine of this quality is available at such a remarkable price. Enjoy!

WINE ENTHUSIAST 92 POINTS - "With a comfortable balance between Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, this wine has fine tannins and elegant black fruits. Its structure and acidity are developing in tandem. Drink from 2023."
