Over the past several years, Barrell Craft Spirits has become a staff favorite in our liquor department. We are always eager to try their new releases and this year is no different! This year’s Barrell Bourbon Gray Label release comes out swinging with an aroma of caramelized sugar notes of cinnamon buns and pecan pie. The tropical side slowly unfolds, unveiling pineapple, passionfruit and peach cobbler.
The biggest surprise when it comes to this delectable bourbon is on the palate: it is full of honeydew, cantaloupe and watermelon-- which are seldom seen flavors in bourbon-- but, once those have passed, a second wave of dark chocolate and earthy notes coats your tongue.
Also, like any full course meal, the best part is always the finish which on exhale brings to mind rose jelly, raspberry turnovers and Meyer lemon.
