WINE ENTHUSIAST 94 POINTS - "This elegant wine is brilliant ruby to the eye, with aromas of ripe red and black fruits, especially red currant and cassis. It has secondary aromas of tobacco, cedar and pencil shavings in the complex bouquet. The tannins are rounded, generous and very silky. It is juicy and full-bodied in the mouth with flavors of ripe red cherry, black raspberry and cassis." — Mike DeSimone
WINE SPECTATOR 92 POINTS - "A sleek, harmonious red, with a rich undertow of sweet smoke, fig jam and mocha notes, plus generous flavors of blackberry paste, crushed black cherry and grilled thyme. Long and silky, with lots of fragrant spices on the finish. Drink now through 2030. 4,550 cases made, 1,800 cases imported."
‘Alto Moncayo’ is the flagship of the winery (though they make a special wine above this called "Aquilon"). It is also another single-grape variety of Garnacha, from vines between 40 and 70 years old, aged in new barrels for 20 months. It has a remarkable complex nose, with balsamic aromas, redolent of black fruit, roasted notes and a very good structure in the mouth.
