A wild raspberry spirit from Alfred Schladerer's Alte Schwarzwälder Hausbrennerei — the family distillery founded in 1844 in Staufen, in the Black Forest of Baden, Germany. Made in the traditional Himbeergeist manner: fully ripe wild forest raspberries, hand-harvested, are macerated in high-purity neutral spirit — the method required by German law for raspberry spirits, since the berries are too low in fermentable sugar for mash fermentation — then redistilled in traditional copper pot stills and reduced to drinking strength with Black Forest spring water. An especially high berry content gives the spirit its intense, pure raspberry character.
Nose: An intense, fresh, vivid raspberry bouquet with delicate nuances of mint and basil.
Palate: Smooth and silky — fresh raspberry and raspberry jam, clean and finely fruity.
Finish: Long and delicate, with a cool mouthfeel.
ABV: 42% (84 Proof)
